1986 bj70

I'm looking at a truck, its a bj70 canadian truck. It has 143 km on her, good body and frame, inside mint. What is this truck worth if I may be so bold.........

9000 or 15000 does anyone have a guess

That would be the lowest miles I've seen in a long time.

I think your range is right on the money and depends on your estimation of "good body and frame"

All that being said, shinny has a nice BJ74 for sale for $8500 that would get you a bunch of nicer options.

Nice rides, don't forget to keep the photies comming !

Peacefull Sunday drive to the picnic site next to a stream.

Have a convession, since getting the 60, my 74 became my 2nd choice vehicle. It is just that it tip's over too easily, needed a wider wheelbase. The 60 is just awesum, not much off roading done with it yet.

My concern with the 70's centre of gravity wich is high and also the narrow wheelbase is not just my opinion, I only exceppted this as a fact after receiving my 60!

Choices are good to have!

Is your 74 lifted? Big difference, I drove 40's, 62's,80's, 100 for many years and know what you mean.
My 74 is not tippy but wears 35x12.50 now, and has a wide stance. Love the narrowness of my 74 as i can go many places I would not even consider before, oh plus the 2 lockers help!
Nice though you can choose between diesel Cruiser's!

Lifted ± 3", running 33"BFG, but it isn't just my findings, it has been proven in severe working conditions here on all sorts of open casts mines. They tend to move away from the 79 and rather go with regular pick-ups for safty reasons.

]Yes Ducatiman, I love the Cruiser with the top off. And yes, without the top there is a huge difference in this regards. Summer is almost with us here in the Garden Route of ZA, this the top comes off every summer !
Here is some pics taken last summer, in the mean time all dents taken out and half doors made for the cargo area.

Toys

This is how I am spending the time lately... Saving for a big trip to Australia, but I always head to Central America around December/January to surf a bit, and run some "real" diesel in the motor again!
Thinking about pulling the top and making a rack for RTT and toys.

mike what kind of pickup set up do you want to run?
Are you worried about storage security?

pick up?

Thanks for asking; I want the ability to run a small camper(lightweight setup) on the pickup chassis, similar to the euro's ideas, and still have a work truck-bed like on tray-back ute's that slides on/off.

Everything from across the pond is too much $$$.

I am planning to do a trip to OZ, then journey... After driving my 74 for a bit now, a diesel will only do for me again...
Gonna get the truck, build up, and see the land, people, continue onto Africa, and S. America.

Very nice indeed.

Yes, that is along the lines of what I want, or need. There's also a beauty in keeping it simple. This set up answers the security question as well, for the most part. I like it a lot. I hope that in the time until I plan to head to Oz, there are more used Utes with the 8 cylinder turbo diesels, and their history is more revealed, I think so far so good though.

Eye out

Yes, I have my eye out for one in the meantime... The long journey has always been a plan for me, and the truck will bring me a long way. I agree too, 1HZ or HD-T, I thought too on Troopies, but length is an issue too for me there. I have considered taking my 74 and making it work, staring from here instead. The basic idea is correct though.
