I've been thinking of the less $$$ single bar sliders by Demello. What do you guys think of them? Enough protection?

The Demello's look great! I bought some Louverne nerf bars for mine, but they stick out from the rockers pretty far and probably wouldnt' take a really big hit. I've smacked them pretty good and it shows. they have some good scratches and Dents. I want to Upgrade to SROR sliders. Jim told me once he'd make me some...

Also if you stick a lift on these trucks, they are basically just as good Off-road as the FJ Cruiser, of course you can lift those as well, and they have a shorter wheelbase. But you can't haul Lumber!

For an extra $50, I'd get the standard weld-ons. The single bar would be good protection for break-overs and rocks coming toward your rocker from the bottom.

The benefit of the full slider is you get some side protection. It's angled up toward your truck, so it doesn't make you much wider. Good for rocks that are taller than your truck. Plus, the extra tube and crossbars make them a lot stronger than the single tube.

I just got done cleaning mine up and repainting them, and 80% of the damage is on that first bar closest to the frame. So it's reasonable to assume a single bar slider would protect you "most" of the time. But it's that extra 20% of side impacts and pivots off of rocks where I'm glad I have the full slider.

2 cents.

FWIW, this guy is running Demello sliders on his expedition Tacoma (2004). If it's good enough for this guy who does it for a living, it will most likely stand up to the abuse you're going to throw at it. I say get it. What's another $150? A proven design and product is worth far more, IMO.

Sliders

I went and ordered the Allpros tonight. I will bolt them on then weld them for added strength.
I need to get them soon so I can go wheel this thing dammit.
After I tear up the stock front bumper I'll be in search of a good front bumper.
Thanks alot.

Getting ready to order rock sliders, the girl is getting me them for Xmas.
Who's got some out there already?
My truck is an 07 Taco. I'm looking real hard at the demmello's. Has anyone got them on their truck and used them. I'm going to wheel this truck and I want something thats going to hold up.
I don't care if I mess up the stock bumpers, but I need to preserve my rockers until the truck is paid off.
Thanks in advance.

Looks like a good product...anyone have experience with these? They make some for the 1995-2004's as well.

Is there a bolt on version?

Looks similar to the trail gear version. Used to be advertised as bolt on, changed to weld on because they were using self tapping bolts. Might look into some that don't have the stand-offs welded on so you can fit to your liking. Of course that requires a welder, but then you could make your own brackets for bolt on.

FYI, the bolt on versions may not be a perfect fit just due to factory variations. So you may still have some fudging to due, and fuel lines to adjust/space out from the frame. Personally I prefer paint over powder coat, much easier to touch up.

Here's an idea for ya.. http://www.tacomaterritory.com/~dickfoster/Pics/Dicks_Sliders.PDF

Don't have to use stainless steel though :D

Yes I admit the F.j. is better,

PS, I'm going to have to disagree with you here as I've wheeled with FJCs more modified than mine, maybe it was the driver. :flipoff2: (Sorry, couldn't resist and no one else typed anything.)

So get your sliders on already! Allpro makes front bumpers also, don't they?

The sliders are in the mail, bumper is off in the distant future unless I rip the the one on it off soon.
I've been on a few offroad trips in the TRD FJ and it was pretty impressive.
I say the Fj is better, becuase of shorter wheelbase and better weight distribution.
Thats my opinion. I bought the truck though and I love it. :flipoff2:
