Yaesu has some really inexpensive 2M units. The Icom is on sale now too.

Since I am new to the ham radio thing also I can't offer you a radio for sale but if there is 1 thing I have learned in life is not to buy someone elses problem.
I agree that the Yaesu 2m like the 2800 is under $150 and a great 2m only radio.
I have the Yaesu VX-6R handheld that will go to my 9yr old as soon as he gets his ticket (1 month I hope) and of course I will go off the deep end buying the 8800 (I want it as a repeater for our hikes/camping).
However I have been looking at simple & inexp. 2m only rigs so I can push our Phx group to move into ham.

Go to the ARRL website and look for a Hamfest in your area. Best place to pick up decent used gear. It's like a flea market for ham radio.
