Gear down or not?

What would the effect be (or how bad would it be), if you kept the stock gearing and used 345/75/16 ti-yers. Way too slow from a standstill? What rpms would you run at 60mph with that set-up, 2345??

You would be making around a 17% increase in tyre diameter. With stock gears the truck (even one with a blower) would be laboring.

There's two CSC guys running 37s on stock gears without much of an issue. It does require some manual shifting on hill climbs.:meh:

You would be hard pressed to break anything on the trail.

My FZJ80 was slow as hell on the hwy with 315 MT's and considering you don't have the FZ I would regear for sure if you choose that tire size. But try it out first and then choose for yourself.

edit- sorry forgot the fz engine was brought in during '93; regardless regearing is so much more needed on an 80, as those engines are puffcakes on the hwy IMHO

My Hawk HPS pads and new rotors allowed me to stop just before a huge conflagration with that bus full of nuns.....these nuns were armed with riot shotguns.....apparently thought they were going to heaven that day and were going to surprise some terrorists as "the virgins"......tehy were expecting to run into:D
I agree but I heard the busload of nuns thing was a near certainty.:p
