Hi there, I'm new around here with the forum, thought I'd introduce myself, Peter, 80 owner from Auckland, New Zealand.

1996 80 4.2DT Auto.

Great site, and tons of great info. I've already had some helpful guys assist with some transmission advice.

Here's a photo of my 80 hooked to our 1967 retro caravan, which looks pretty tired from the outside, but I've gutted and rebuilt from scratch inside.

I like it the camper that's clean looks pro whish I could see it up close. Keep it retro it has that classic look you can't buy an it's complete. It's not like you go off road g in your camper. U have ac weres the mattress an chicks at.

Welcome aboard, nice caravan. Reminds me of an old friends house. Tired old 1920's farmhouse on the outside but completely gutted, replumbed, rewired and refininished on the inside. Looked like a million dollar mansion on the inside and a condemned mess on the outside. Just the way he wanted it.

Cheers guys. The caravan was a huge project for us. It certainly tested the marriage, we bought it for $1600 (it was a wreck) and had 3 months with a mate of mine to get it gutted and rebuilt before Xmas this year. Worked a lot of nights until midnight and the neighbours were great putting up with my power tools running some nights to past 9pm. Wife was OVER it, but now loves it and agrees it was worthwhile.......typical. We didn't cut any corners with the interior, nice stereo incl amp, components and 6x9's, intelligent charger, 270Ah deep cycle battery, 240V system, LED lights, insulation etc. We've been over a week on the battery without connecting to mains which was the goal.
Towed it all over the NZ North Island and it's used most weekends. Think we'll take it for a big trip around our East Cape next summer.

Yeah don't change the outside that look is perfect. Excellent Image excellent!! It seems like thats the way to prevail here in the states. People think less when it's like that, which is a better thing just like not putting your money in bank or using credit cards. Just simple. but do the AC. You can't buy that it has to be made
