Hi all:

I know i'm new here, but i'm hoping i can contribute to the community. I recently got my LC 100 and realize we have no steel wheel options (except 18" Tundras). I contacted US Wheels with an off the cuff inquiry recently and, to my surprise, received this as a response. I'm curious if y'all would be interested in a group buy for some steel off-road wheels and, if so, what sizes? i'd love to hear your thoughts and if there's any interest.

in my post in the LC 100 subforum the guys seem to think that in order to benefit the 100 guys and 200 guys alike, that a 17x8 +25 wheel would fit both platforms perfectly. Please feel free to comment.

here's the "Daytona Stealth" that would be available to us.

17x8 25 offset would be perfect, provided the load capacity could be improved to ~2500ish.

Yeah I'm interested. Would want to put 35x12.5x17 on it. Wouldn't we need 8.5 or 9 width to fit that tire? Most 35s I look at which specify seem to want an 8.5 or wider rim.
Would also be interested in a true beadlock (outer only).

in my experience with stock Jeep wheels, plenty of the JK guys run 35x12s on the factory 17x7.5s. YMMV but i don't think they have much of an issue, and it helps to have a narrower wheel in "aired down" situations.

This is far from my area of expertise, for sure. Still would like a true beadlock, but there are plenty of weld your own beadlock options once the steel wheels are in hand.

I doubt US Wheel will provide a DOT approved, steel, full beadlock wheel.
Especially since there are only a few companies that make them.
Only one, that I know of, in 5x150 and it's not steel.
If they did, it would be very expensive and very heavy.
If you really want a beadlock that's DOT compliant, try Hutchinson. You might want to add in a Golds Gym membership because trying to lift a 160#+ wheel/tire combo will be taxing.

If you're very serious about offroading, or have a dedicated trail set of tires, you could use one of the available DIY weld on beadlock kits with a steel wheel that the OP is discussing. 25mm offset may be too much though, because the weld on kits add width to the wheel on the outboard side, so you'd get an effective offset of less than 25mm, likely approaching zero. I ran one of these kits on a dedicated off-road rig and it worked great with 8" wheels and 36x12.50s. Not sure I'd have enjoyed them at 80 on the highway though.

as for the offset issue, if it's a dedicated trail rig there's a chance you're willing to modify your fenders to accommodate wider wheels. As for this Group Buy, it would probably be best for people looking for true beadlocks to check into other options as it seems the juice may not be worth the squeeze.

sounds like one of my many bad ideas . definitely don't want to derail a group buy.

I have looked at the hutchinsons several times . . .

well i don't think it's a bad idea at all. i just don't think they offer a true bead lock.

If it does happen in 17” flavor they need to make sure they will clear the large brakes on 16+ 200s. Most 17” wheels don’t.
5x150 rock warriors could make a good template.

It pains me to say I’ve been trying with no luck to get a hold of these people. I’m ashamed and embarrassed.
