I think I know what is going on with yours. The front leading edge that runs along the windshield molding. It needs to be trimmed back and cut down the entire length to fit right and tuck almost under the windshield molding. Like this (forgive the nasty closeup). As you tuck the plastic edge under the weatherstripping, the pods will the start cocking leftward.

I hope this helps.

Thank you! It sure does! I trimmed quite a bit from that side today, but I think some more massaging over in that area will benefit my install. I also cut out a little channel for the 3rd pod's wiring - now that you mention the edge, I realize that a wider channel could help the pod face more towards me. Will give it a try during my next wrenching session and report back with results!

Looking very umm... "Clean" mister! 😉 Also that steering wheel. Gotta get on that too. I'm still thinking about OEM pod bastardization but I do like your a-pillar implementation.

Thanks! I try to live up to the name haha! Clean installs are always nice. If you end up going with the OEM pod mod, it'll look great if you can source the matching dash pad that has the notched out portion so there won't be a gap between the hood and the dash:

I have a used RHD pad and pod that I will be sending off to justdashes.com to get restored in grey color this year (they are just not cheap at all though). This was my idea all along instead of A pillar mounts.

I wish I could just buy new RHD pad at least but those are long gone, at least with the notched out portion.

cool, i wanted to do this but the autometer pod met my standards and at $150 made my wallet happy too....

One solution is to purchase “multi-function” gauges which in essence allows you to have the equivalent of 4 gauges in a dual pod. 😊

I had this one in my LJ78:

Funny you mention the SAAS one not fitting that well - I just ordered one from NZ! I specifically wanted an SAAS one this time as I'd like to try and mount a third pod onto the assembly. Hopefully I won't mind trimming it since I'll be modifying it anyway, but thanks for the heads up!
@misterclean i'm curious, did the autotecnica pillar pictured above need any trimming or was it an exact fit for your LJ78? I have a '96 KZJ78 and looking for a pillar but want to know what I'm getting into

@ATL Cruiser - where exactly did you have to trim the SAAS one? do you have any pics?
It had to be trimmed along the entire A-pillar, along the edge that touches the window. I don't remember how much had to be trimmed off. It was just enough to get it to catch under the lip of the windshield rubber seal.
