Im also interested in a set of these. I had the napa struts but returned them because I am missing the cylinders and springs that come on most liftgate tops. So I have nothing there currently... I do have the threaded end still attached to the lift gate that the cylinders would screw into... Couldn't come up with a mounting setup I really liked so I put it off for awhile... Keep posting pics of final installed setup...

Air springs arrived today and they work perfectly.

jgray - not sure how they would work for you if you do not have the stock cylinders. You can find plates with the ball attachments for the struts online if you want to make you own mounts.

Shawn: PM'd you

One pair left for whomever wants them: $65 shipped. Cheaper than NAPA ($80/pair) and guaranteed to work.

Got the struts and installed them this weekend. Would like to thank Alan. The struts he supplied fit without a problem, and work great!

Thanks for your work on this.

The Napa Part # 819-5565 refers to the Manufactures Part # 5200-50.

I Googled this part number and found several distributers. I just installed item number 5200-50. RV Gas Strut I had a pair of them delivered for under $37, which is what Napa wants for each spring.

The tube end is 15mm dia. which fit perfectly into the upper portion of the old chrome tube after I removed the plastic end connector. After fitting the gas spring into the old tube, I cut the other plastic connector to length so that it was exactly the length of the fully expanded tube.

Works like a champ. Now I just stand back and watch as my rear gate is lifted to its max height.

This is great. Do you have a pic of them installed? I'm going to order those this week for mine!!!

X2 in that, I also bought those struts but I can't figure out the ends of the same, how to remove them so they can fit inside the older tube.

Most of the ends unscrew. Worst case, you could cut the tip off with a cut off wheel or hack saw... Just make sure the strut will fit inside before you cut it to length...

Once it is installed, there is nothing to see. It looks just like the regular stock setup, but works much better.

I don't even know what the stock setup looks like. The struts were not there as this is a 78 frame and engine with a 73 rear hatch so I'm piecing it together cause I like the look. Add a few pics please!

X1001 pics please!

xInfinity....where are the pics...lol:clap:

Not sure if this is what you are looking for...

I do not understand... You want to see the strut inside the oem assembly? There is nothing to see. You slide the strut in after you take out the oem spring, and put it back together...
