I'm finally getting around to the transmission fluid change, and realize now that I never ordered a funnel to reach the dipstick tube. What are you guys using?

If you bought a gallon jug you could get a hand pump with a long enough tube/hose to reach the dipstick tube.

ah - that's an idea!

was hoping someone had some sort of nasa-level metering funnel device by now.

Funnel is good when in a bind but if you pour too fast it can backup on you and make a mess.

This is what I was referring to earlier: photo credit @BayArea80

Most of the "ATF" funnels are too narrow at the end so they don't seal at all inside the fill tube, IME it helps a bit to push the funnel inward ie trying to seal it at the bottom against the inside edges of the fill tube. If you do use something like the blue funnel above you'd need to use a lot of papertowels or rags stuffed around and under the fill tube as the ATF will overflow and leak out around the tip of the funnel and run down the tube onto the ground. I'm now using something else but I forget where I got it (or where it is 🤔 ).

i did a drain & refill a few weeks back using one and didnt spill a drop, they work perfectly fine, just pour slowly, whats the rush anyhow :)

This is the custom setup i made to fill my transmission via the dipstick tube. In the first photo you can see my overall funnel setup. In both photos you can see a closeup on the custom upper and lower stainless tubes that i made on my lathe that snaps into the trucks factory dip stick tube, and holds the funnel place while refilling the transmission.

I've been thinking of something better to use for ATF for about 20 years, why didn't you tell us you solved the problem :p
Did you machine that youself? Got any dimensions you can share?

My current plastic funnel fits very snug, initially it was too wide (OD) at the end so I sanded it down until I got a very snug fit into the fill pipe.
