Hey all -
I’ve sprung a leak in my gas tank and discovered it’s not the correct tank, nor in the correct OEM location. Ultimately, I just want a reliable, working solution, but after some research it seems like going back to an OEM-style tank might be just as cost-effective as fabricating or buying another aftermarket setup. For context, I did a 5.3 Vortec swap a while back and modified the existing tank to accept an in-tank fuel pump.

Considering the Spectra Premium TO16A as a replacement tank. There's still some of the original mounting hardware, I’d likely need to source new straps, hardware, and a filler neck

Open Questions
- Does anyone know how I could go about getting the proper hardware. It seems like none of the original stuff is made anymore.
- Does anyone have any experience with adding an in-tank pump to this later model tank?
- I'm in Georgia, so I dont think I need to worry about any of the emissions stuff on the tank. Maybe just plug it?

It seems like a fairly straightforward project, just a long list of details to sort out. Any photos, parts lists, or lessons learned from others who’ve gone through this would be super helpful.

Way back in the mid 80's my 72's tank developed a weep along a seam. I did the alcohol proof gas tank liner treatment from JC Whitney. Tank is still there and leak free. My dad welded lots of gas tanks - learn about proper inerting.

I'm considering this behind the rear axle aux tank to replace my in poor shape datsun b210 12.5 gal aux tank I klooge in back in the early 90's. Or perhaps welding one up out of stainless steel.

You kind of need everything in that sor parts pic you have. I did a video where I showed an installed tank and some of the supporting parts being installed.

Unfortunately a lot of those parts have been discontinued and are hard (expensive) to find.

The Spectra tanks are good. Get that and convert to intank pump. Even if you don’t have emissions checks I would still add a charcoal canister if you don’t have one, they’re a good device that just avoids wasting evaporated fuel.
