Does anyone know the proper way/amount/procedure to tighten the little screew on top of Fuel Pressure Pulsation Damper?

It was getting late and my eye were tired, when I pulled that little screw out. All I could find in FSM is to: "check that the pulsation damper screw pop up when fuel pump operates.

That the round thing seating on the main fuel line feed. Has a little screw in the top?
Anyone have a clue?

Hi 2001LC,
Do you have a game plan for this when you put your injectors back in?

Did you have to remove the damper when removing the rails for the injectors? Any words of advice?
Thanks,
Ron

I'm going to put all injectors back in, even bad. You can see by my results When to replace fuel injectors most Cleaners would have passed them, so it will run ok. Then record MPG for three tanks of gas. After which I'll replace the two Fuel Injector Specialist recommended, and recheck MPG. I'm really more excited about doing my LC, which I have very detailed MPG records.

It is sitting on top on main inbound fuel line, which will get in your way, making removal of fuel rail difficult. Removing the damper is easy, it just has two gaskets (washer, per FSM not reusable) above and below main fuel line. Just don't turn the little screw on top dampener.

I took out the little screw form the top of dampener, which is not necessary. It was a mistake, so don't do that. I pulled intake then disassembled, so just fuel rails is a little different. I'm replacing all seals & gaskets. If you use the guy I did for injector cleaning, rebuild and testing, he will supply your injector seals. You'll need the fuel line gaskets (washer) for any you pull. The old washer look so good I hate to replace seem like a waste, but FSM states not reusable. Make sure you torque to spec, and FSM said coat O-ring with gasoline during install. If you don't have and FSM I suggest you get one, possibly a free down load somewhere.

Please someone tell me the proper set-up for that little screw, I can't find in FSM????????????

It's looks as if it had thread lock on it, is that correct?
How much should I tighten it?

I guess I'll have to guesestimate, based on clues from markings/grim.:(

Chuck at Fuel Injector Specialists - Home - Wheat Ridge, CO said this when I asked if I should you gasoline on O-rings / seals that in put on my injectors:

"Recommendations to use gasoline as a lubricant are WRONG. We pre lube all our O-Rings after our service with Transgel Gold transmission assembly lube. Just our own preference. Ford and Mercedes recommend clean engine oil or clean trans fluid. Either works. We used to use Vaseline, but GM recommends against it, for an unknown reason. We also coat the inside of injectors with a fine film of top quality GUN OIL -- after our cleaning, the injectors are so clean they will grab water molecules from the air and start the rusting process, as a gun barrel will do. But times a factor or about 10. Using zip lock bags is fairly effective. Even so. we recommend that people don't rebuild injectors a MAXIMUM of 30 days until use."

Chuck has been very responsive and helpful, answering all my question. I'll for sure use him for my next set of fuel Injectors I having rebuild.

Any luck with this @2001LC ?? I’ve got a very noise fuel rail. I pulled the plastic tab off my dampener today and the bloody screw was out!! I screwed it half way in but didn’t make any difference to the noise in the fuel rail. I’m thinking maybe new dampener ??

Well, can't picture plastic tab?

FSM just states it must pop up while engine running. I turned the screw out this once and back in. Did not seem to make much difference. Can't say I notice sound change.

I'd do a fuel pressure test by the book. i.e static, running than leak down time.

But keep in mind, fuel injectors make a ticking sound. Louder may just be cleaner.
