Hi everyone,

New member and new owner of a 91 FJ80. I have been lurking for a while trying to figure out what preventive maintenance I should be doing to find out the previous owner did pretty much everything. Now I have a bunch of spare parts.

One thing I found was wrong is that the fuel gauge always reads full. Tank was at half and it still read full. Where should I start with this? Sender? Gauges? If I need to get to the sender is there access under the rear seat or do I need to drop the tank?

Thanks

I'd start with wiring and grounds first. There is a panel under the 2nd row seat and carpet that gives you access to the sending unit/pump assembly if you need. Shouldn't be a reason to drop the tank.

Float is probably stuck in the tank. I had this on my 92 for a couple years till funnily enough I went on a pretty rough trail and it must have bumped it free. Take out the back seats and look at the pump/float.
I had a floater stuck in the tank in 92....back then it was called an upper decker;)
