There is a pre-filter on the fuel pump and an inline filter mounted on the inside of the passenger frame rail, below the distributor.

On my GMC, switching out the in-line fuel filter was a standard maintenance task. I think every 15K. I did it at least a couple of times.

In the time I've lurked here, I've never seen any mention of that for the Land Cruisers. I didn't find anything on the FAQ page.

Does no one do it?

It reminds me of how the owners manual completely omits any reference to checking the automatic transmission fluid. It doesn't even show where to find the dipstick on the diagrams. Seems like that is something you'd want to have a look at occasionally.

There are many threads on fuel filter replacements and fuel pump pre-filter replacements on both the 3FE and 1FZ-FE motors. Search a bit and you will find them.

Both items are not mentioned as periodic maintenance in the FSM, but are 100K mile items in my opinion, along with some other tidbits.
