Many thanks Geoff for updating the ISO and detailed instructions!

I was able to get this working last night on a Windows 11 OS using Abyss and the provided configuration steps.

For kicks, I attempted to do the same on my new MacBook Pro w M1 Max CPU (Apple silicon). FWIW - It can't run VMware Fusion at this time.

Using a new Mac OS (12.3.1) and HW, Abyss installed fine. Used the following config:

Placed ISO in it's own directory and then mounted, specifying in documents path:

Removed all IP ranges except local.

Added jsp extension under MIME types.

Restart Abyss web server and good to go. Really fast too.
Thanks for the Mac beta.
I was able to replicate all this except the actual .iso location.
Mac GUI doesn't want me to place the file in the root like that - do I need to create a separate partition? Also the 'mount' - is that of the partition, or of the .iso file? I have the path in Abyss pointing at the file, but when I go to 127.0.0.1:80 All I see is the .iso file, not the contents of index.html. Clicking on the file results in a 'download' prompt . . .

So close. but so far . . .

Edit fixed . . . <
ah, right click on the .iso and 'open with' 'disk image mounter'. Then set the Abyss path to the newly mounted disk (which will show at the volume level)
The navigate a new browser window to 127.0.0.1:80 (or whatever you set your port to.)

So I was playing on my Abyss and have some lower level links that won't resolve.

For example, any of the blue info buttons.

I assumed it was my .iso, so I redownloaded the torrent today, and got the same behavior on the new file.

This was in Safari. It works in Chrome. Any thoughts what Safari setting is blocking these links?

Until then I guess I'll have to endure having to use Chrome.

Odd, I would expect it to work.

I'm not sure what the equivalent is on a Mac, but on Windows I would right click the Info link and go to "inspect", then post what it's showing as the link. Maybe start by comparing the two so we can see if the URL is different for some reason.

I tried Safari on my Mac and works fine. Running the latest MacOS and updates. Looked at the Abyss config and can't see any options that would impact the behavior you are seeing. Maybe it's a setting in Safari?

Yeah, Safari . . . it doesn't have an 'inspect' feature that I could find in the context menu. I'm sure there is one, but I"m not a power user.

I did choose 'open in preview' which opened the info as a .pdf. the link in the .pdf in preview did show the target (see image).

Here is what Chrome has for the same link <embed type="application/x-google-chrome-pdf" src="chrome-extension://mhjfbmdgcfjbbpaeojofohoefgiehjai/f20c20d8-e359-4f10-a8e6-38415029e794" original-url="http://127.0.0.1/LEXUS/LX/J200/PDFs/RepairManual-RM10N0U-VehicleExterior-2009.pdf" background-color="4283586137" javascript="allow" full-frame="">

It isn't an issue at all to use Chrome.

I'm sure somewhere in my setup for Safari it is borked. I got this Macbook Pro in 2012, and since it still runs fine all the biz software I use, I haven't upgraded. I need to talk to my boss (me) about that . . .

file:// links typically get blocked by the browser for security reasons.

I'll see if I can replicate it using safari on my iphone or something since I don't have a Mac. Using Abyss everything *should* open as http://127.0.0.1/ instead of file:///

I can just use Chrome. . . .use your time to prep for a summer trip :)

Anybody seeding currently? Or better yet can tonight so I can download overnight tonight which via my stellar 10mbps DSL line will take somewhere between 12 and 13 hours to download... If only i could get Starlink... I may be better served trying to find a friend to download it to a USB stick for me over their fiber connection. Its either that or I try my hand at the DIY version in the other thread and download just my MY2018 data which is all I'll ever need. Linux command line scripting is not my preference however. I'm a hardware guy.

Yes I'm pretty much always seeding. I have a 10Mbps upload limit set though. Run your downloads overnight and pause during the day and just give it a couple nights to finish if need be.

I may finally have seeding working on my end as well.

Ok will try tonight. I tried to start it right before I posted that message and it wasn't going anywhere. Just stayed on 0 progress so figured there was nobody seeding. I'll try to kick it off overnight tonight and see how far it gets before I fly out in the morning to take the kids to grandmas for summer break. Thanks a ton for doing this. After I get the manual up and running now all I need is to grow the balls to start doing most/all of my own Mx on the truck without the fear in the back of my head that I'll break something or make it worse.

If you don't torrent often you might need to enable the torrent app through your firewall. I'm definitely seeding so you should start downloading right away.

Torrent virgin here. I'll look at the firewall settings. Thanks for the tip.

I believe my problem with seeding was that I had not set up a port forward rule on my router for the incoming connection port. I haven't had to do that for prior bittorrent software that I've used, but from reading up on it a bit, it sounds like it could also be something to do with active / passive mode, where one of those doesn't require the port to be open on the router, but requires a different method of connecting seeders. I try to keep the number of forwarded ports to a minimum as each one is a potential security risk.

Seeding is confirmed to be working - I currently have 1 peer connected and downloading.

I've added another seed. I had moved the file and that made transmission unhappy. So I put it back. Then moved it from within the Transmission UI, and it was happy.

Awesome. I'll try to kick it off to download later when I get home from the vet with my dog getting stitched up.

In Abyss config, if you have default set to port 80, try in Safari using 127.0.0.1
Note: make sure the ISO is mounted. I just installed a major MacOS update and after rebooting could not connect. Abyss was started but the ISO was not mounted. Had to mount and then it works.

Turned on my phone 5G Hotspot overnight and used all 40gig of my monthly Hotspot to accelerate it. My no connection problem was apparently a port issue or conflict of some sort. I clicked the setting to select a random port on startup and restarted Transmission and it fired right up the next time. Can't thank you enough for the work you put in to make this available.
