Has anyone ordered any parts through frontier 4x4? Just wanting some reviews on them. Their tg sas kits are cheaper than on the actual tg site, plus they have free shipping. Any input is welcome, good or bad. Thanks

I had originally planned to go thru addicted offroad, but then emailed scotty and found out they do not do free shipping anymore, and neither does trail gear. But frontier 4x4 has good prices and they also do free shipping. I was shopping around on their site and a sas kit, rear chromoly axles, rear bearing kits, rear wheel studs, front wheel studs, and a couple small things can't really remember. But the total was only about 1900. And shipping came to a total of 65 bucks. I didn't order yet as I'm awaiting my tax returns. But that seems pretty good. Oh yeah and 5.29 ring and pinions front and rear was on the list. How are the trail gear wheel studs? And also how are usa standard ring & pinions?

Yeah good luck trying to find a solid axle pickup around where I live for 2k or less. And my engine has 37k miles on it. And everything else has been gone thru. I'm sorry but I truely don't understand your logic. The only reason the total for parts was almost 2k is because I included gears, chromoly rear axles, and a few other parts that I just want, but don't absolutely need. Plus ide rather build what I have, and not have to worry about what I'm going to have to replace on some pickup I just buy.

You will probably find more info on pirate in their vendor marketplace, though likely they are good. I've bought through Dave's off road as they sold cheaper then the pirate website as well and can say he was a good vendor.

I've ordered most of the parts on my 4runner from Luke at Frontier. He has great prices, free shipping on orders over 300 and excellent customer service. Practically everything for my solid axle conversion came from Frontier.

What is wrong with the chromo rears? I've been reading and most everyone seems to like them. Would stock ones be a better choice? I haven't ordered anything yet, so if stock ones would be better, I will definately change my direction as far as rear axle goes. I just figured if the chromos were stronger, why not get then. But I am not dead set on getting them. Could you please explain?

I think his point (which I agree) is that the stock rear shafts are pretty strong, they rarely break. I think you posted earlier that you're not really building a hard core rock crawling rig, so the factory shafts will be fine. Wait till you need them before you do this upgrade, use the money elsewhere, like lockers, bumpers, winch, etc.

The reason I was going to get new rear axle shafts is because when my yota got hit a few years ago, it bent the drivers side pretty bad. You can see the tire wobble when driving. The passanger side seems to be ok, but I figured I would replace them before I started wheeling bigger, heavier tires. I would go to a junk yard, but don't want to get another one that's bent, as that would be a weak point. Any options and opinions are taken into consideration. don't sugar coat things lol, tell me what you think! :p

Have you checked to make sure the housing isn't bent?

Yes I did. I used an angle square, and I checked very carefully. From what my dad and I could see, it wasn't bent. I haven't torn into it yet, but I honestly think its bent right where the wheel goes on. Maybe?
