Following. My trim (2000 LC) just started lifting above the door.

That doesn't look right to me either. That looks like the piece that goes under the trim.

I just found this video on youtube and now feel a little dumb for posting the question but oh well. Had to replace the windshield due to a hail storm and when the guys were removing the trim they obviously didn't know what they were doing but they go the window installed and I had told them thats all I wanted them to do as it was they didn't know what they were doing. There was a self tapping screw that was used on both sides and it pisses me off because we had the windshield replaced years ago at a Toyota dealership so they had to have known.

If you had screws previously installed where the rivets should go then your holes may be slightly oversized. Toyota has some slightly larger rivets you can buy. I bought both the oem and oversized. Haven't got around to the install yet but figured it was worth it to have both sizes on-hand.

Larger rivets:

Yea looks like the one on the drivers side was the worst one, I took a flat punch and flattened it out and it really doesn’t look as bad now. Hope that works lol. I may get one or two of those bigger rivets just to have on hand.

Im going to be in the same boat. I also have a little rust bubbling at two spots on the roofline. Thats what started my deep dive into windshield issues and improper installs.

The rubber strip is a separate part number. I have it
coincedence: my rig is going in to alfredo's next week for a windshield replacement. Noisy aftermarket for an oem. also have some corrossion bubbling at roof line.

quickly assessed his knowledge...he is the man.

he actually had a midwest client drive out for windshield work. that's good enough for me 👍
I considered driving down from NorCal for him too. Ended up getting it fixed very competently in NorCal. Next time though I’ll make the trip and then hit Mojave while I’m down there.

Wish I was in CA to see Alfredo. Curious what you find regarding the corrosion once the windshield is removed. Please post an update.

I'm going to jump in on this as my new-to-me 2000 LX has a similar issue. Windshield is a fairly new aftermarket, poorly installed, slight rust at roofline, really, really bad wind noise at driver side trim in the corner. I'd like to fix the wind noise if possible. I have NOT done a deep dive into this, can someone give me the TLDR version?
