The OEM parts are less than half the ARK prices per side. Are the ARK parts really that much better?

The OEM parts are molded plastic. Totally different from the aftermarket stuff.

Regular old EPDM rubber sheet would not be my choice for these. That stuff does not hold up well to anything besides a static seal. If they were composite or reinforced like conveyor belt material I would consider it a potential upgrade.

But plain rubber sheet? Nope. Just gonna fall apart in a year or two.

I've had the ARK guards on mine for a year now- so far they're great. Theyre much thicker than the factory stuff, and seem to be holding up well. I wasn't able to get all the factory pieces when I installed the new engine last year, and opted for the aftermarket ones from ARK.

The piece around the steering box is tight, as my steering box has the DeltaVS brace which pushes it out from the frame 1/4" or so. That extra space keeps one of the holes from lining up, but it's been fine without it.

@Saito wants kydex. Probably the right choice for DIY, but it would be prohibitively expensive to mass produce, versus the OEM material.

While we're on the subject, I was wondering what it would take to make larger inner fenders out of plastic, to accommodate really big tires. Anyone ever tried that?

Iceland Land Cruisers have had these for 30 years or more.

I believe the outfit was called Arctic Trucks.

Just tell me how much. Cuz it’ll be a forever part I’m sure. 🤔 in the meantime my inner tube rubber works.

It's amazing how many uses for old inner tubes there are...

McMaster Carr has a great selection of fiber reinforced material that would be ideal for the application.

Followup from last year. One side of my replacement flaps lasted a little over a year. Other side hanging on. Probably got tugged on enough with suspension flex on trail. At this point I don’t plan to replace it. We’ll see.

I really only need 3 of the 6 pieces, and the dealership I often buy from was having a 30% off sale this week,, so, WIN.
