Last Saturday I replaced all of my front differential bushings in my 2000 LX 470 with new oem toyota bushings. I then drove 6.5 hours to Knoxville and went wheeling at windrock. During that time I began hearing a clunking noise that occurred when I took up slack in the drivetrain, shifted from D to R or vice versa and went over bumps. I assumed it was a hub flange or cv since I have a questionable one that makes noise. Well today, after driving home from Knoxville I crawled under the car to find the rear bushing had come apart completely and my differential was resting on the crossmember. I’m confused as to why this happened. All the bushings were torqued to spec and I used an oem toyota part. I originally thought that we left out the top stopper plate but it was on there. Not a new part but it appears to be in decent shape. Does anyone have any idea what happened?
