I should be around for the next few days if you need some welding, fab, or other work done.

My Header was always leaking somewhere... It was different in thickness from the intake manifold and it regularly needed a new gasket , leaked at the collector, cracked, was really loud with the dual exhaust.

The headers may have been good for hp but they succed for low end torque. It was better off road after I put a manifold back on it.

perfectly stated... they after fire like hell when they crack and suck air in...

can't wait to get some more stuff done and start driving it more without looking over my sholder for the blue and red

That won't end...

I've had a really gassy smell around the cruiser lately... and I'm wondering if it might be because of the charcoal canister being unhooked.

Anyway I picked up some more hose and such to hook it up but I'm wondering... Do I need to have that little one way valve and if so does anyone know a part number... lordco doesn't seam capable of finding them.

I've had good luck with "seal all"

You better clean it off really good and treat any rust otherwise it won't last very long...

Townside auto does fuel tank repairs, you should give them a try. They will weld or solder it up properly. We used them all the time, no complaints.

Use Muriatic acid to take care of the rust, you can buy it at a hardware store. Cleans up rusted hardware nicely too. For Por 15 you need to use the paint also. I would even just give it a shot soldering if you are somewhat handy with a torch. I shouldn't have to but i'll say it anyway, clear the tank of all fumes by filling it with water a few times before applying any heat please!

for all the time, energy and cost of patching it with no guarantee that it wont leak again in 2 weeks i would do as dslcruzr suggests and take it to townside and do it right.

ha... water... i'll just have a few beers and drop a match in...:hillbilly:

have fun with that... I know I was stating the obvious but don't want to be liable for some idiot doing just that.

how'd the tank turn out?

turned out good... still have my eyebrows... went the fiberglass route... since I am not working for another month...
Drove to courtenay no problems... cruiser is parked for the summer while I'm out in ontario... unless I win the lottery or something and can afford to spend 2 grand on shipping... plan for now is to put it in tires... and perhaps some other stuff on the cruiser come september.

Hmmm... I told you so is in order.. .

ah.. your wisdom seems correct I just got a call from my dad saying its leaking... no idea where from as I'm a little out of town... guess I have something to fix before I drive it back.

Does anyone have an under seat fuel tank in good shape?
