frankensteined FJ40 body on a Tacoma frame heater question

Hi Guys!
My buddie has an tacoma single cab 3rz frame with a fj40 body we frankensteined together. It runs and rides quite nicely (still has ifs/ the sas swap is on the list) The only thing that we did not complete is the heater/ fan set up. Now that it is cold we want to get on this.
Do you guys have any tips on how we should attack this...

We have the original fj heater box that worked before we started the conversion. Should we try to rewire the original heater box or go with a aftermarket solution. Im leaning towards an aftermarket since the heater on my old fj acts like it is a 40+year old heater.

I found this Flex-a-Lite's Mojave Auxiliary Heater Review - 4x4Review Off Road Magazine and it looks pretty strait forward...

Anybody try this...i know tacoma x fj40 hybrid is rare but its been fun thus far.

Some of the issues with after market heaters is, unless you want to build the ducting, is the lack of fresh air intake. Otherwise you'll end up fogging up your windows. My first choice would be to stick with the stock heater and ducting. The wiring will be easy.

Replace the foam in the original, and wire it in. Two hoses, and one power wire. It won't be easier to get aftermarket.

i know not everyones taste, but it works great. very easy to install. and i moved knobs to the fj 40 dash
