Hi: will treating under carriage surface rust with POR-15 or similar hurt me if I decide to sell down the road? How does a buyer think about it?

Light surface rust on frame welds (seams), fuel tank plate, front plate, etc.

Seems like a buyer would be skeptical of recently treated under carriage. Before and after pics help?

Leaning towards POR-15. Better alternatives?

Thanks!

I know POR has been used for years, well known. Will check Fluidfilm.

In terms of selling: I‘d take pictures before removing rust, after removing rust, after coating and all with time stamp. That should provide enough „trust“ in what you did why.

Do the cleanup and then protect with the clear verison of FluidFilm/Woolwax/etc then there is no question as to the condition underneath.

If just surface rust, try using something Phosphoric Acid based like "Rust Kutter" to convert the rust. Rinse, dry and then follow with a satin chassis paint like Eastwood Chassis Satin Black. Careful with the Phosphoric acid because it'll etch concrete.

Use a different product, or fluidfilm. I use fluidfilm and pbblaster surface shield
