are those bearings a pita to change
:D

Have you worked in a tranny shop before? :D

I haven't done it, but if you are compitent and have a press and a few other special tools I don't think it would be too bad.

But I'm no longer scared to fix anything on my truck, so........

Well.....dropping the tranny would probably be the worst part for you. Though "we" my dad and I can get it out in less than an hour (probably droped the trannys 10 times on our 5 rigs with the W56). Any repair book has a pretty good step by step how to break it down and all you'll need is a press.

You can drive it as is for probably a very very long time, some where in the neighborhood of 100k miles. It just depends on how bad they are, usally how loud, how much strain you put on it, such as larger tires.

well tomorrow im dumping a new clutch kit into this little rig, with slave cy.its been a couple of years sence ive done one.list as follows im going with the adjustment on the slave cy about midway maybe a little closer to the firewall on the threads,i know the clutch pedal inside needs adjustment toward the pedal to allow the pedal to go closer to the floor.bench bleed of course,as far as that am i leaving anything out.seems pretty easy to drop the tranny out of this toy.let ya know tomorrow night how it went:beer:

oh yea the input shaft bearing goes in to.if ive got to much slack in the back and the front new tranny goes in

well i worked 9 hours last night mostley fighting rust and locktight.turn out the tranny was fine no slack at all in the shaft, throwout bearing and clutch was shot.also the halfmoon clip was missing to the throwout bearing all there was is 2 little baby small clips to hold the throwout bearing to the fork.another fxxxing rig job:rolleyes: .freaking breaking bolts everywere .got to drill out the bolt holes for the front sway bar.all bolts broke including the link bolts:crybaby: .only 7 bucks a set:D .somebody had the wrong bolts for the tranny mounts on the crossmember .lack of bolts holding the tranny to the transfer case, which explains the little leak.like i said before im expecting to find ducttape holding something together soon. .i droped the front skid plate lastnight for the hell of it .it was also rigged together.what really pisses me off i was told the frame was in good shape its not.the front core support is rusted out.needs welding.bumper is ziptyed together.dam live and learn i suppose:eek:

:crybaby: fxxx fxxx fxxx.i took the chance dumped the old one back in .now i have to dump the old one out and put the new one in.im a dumb ass ;p .good news it shifts wonderfull.just noisey
