Fantastic!

Well, figured I would keep this thread alive, since this trail is just that awsome. Anyway, didn't post last years may long pics because I was going to write up a trails article, but I doubt I will, so might save the good photos from last year for something, but since I didn't take too many this year becasue it was so similar to last year, I'll post some of last years after I post this years.:hillbilly: If that didn't confuse you, here are the first few pics, lost more snow this year, however lot less water as the mountains are still full, figure it will start melting and make rivers rise soon. Also helped we brought in a bobcat to clear the snow drifts that had us shovelling for a full day last year, but still due to all the snow this year, took a day of bobcat work to get to the first river crossing where we would leave the machine and head on with our trucks.

Didn't help it snowed a few inches overnight the first night then the whole day we cleared trail, but the last two days were amazing weather, sunny and warm. Adam wheeled my truck in as I cleared, then he drove back and escorted Amanda in with the Big Bronco as we headed in a day early to get a jump on the snow removal.

Was an adventure just getting the bobcat with trailer in, as we got it burried 20km from trailhead in a snow drift and had to unload and clear the main road a little so we didnt have to walk it in that far.

After the river crossing the snow drifts in places were less than last year, but then there were sections that still had a foot or two of snow that we had to power through, but was fairly packable and we didn't even bust out the chains this year. Had to cut quite a few downed trees, and rebuild a couple crossings, so it was good that we got in so that future trips this summer will have us moving in quickly to the second crossing then only have to work on the last 10 to the lake.

Made it to the second river crossing with minimal shoveling, minor winching, and no breakage this year!

Last pic from this year, as we camp at the second river crossing. Will post some of last years later, also might get a few from Adam.
Cheers,
Deny

I think that would make a great article for the BackRoader!

Nice blue sky, forgot what it looked like..... groan....(camped in the rain with the :princess: and :bounce: :bounce2: this past weekend at Deception Pass)

Yeah I already did one write up on this trail in the backroader, so doubt I can write more. Plus I don't want to advertise this trail out there too much, I know this is the internet any one can view this thread, but generally it is toyota or cruiser people that frequent this little section and I don't mind sharing with them.
The blue skies and I think it climbed to 20degC was nice change from the snow we had on Friday. I even got a little sun burn!:hillbilly:

Also, knew you were holding onto the good pics from last year seeing the 3 you posted in the CC thread.

A bit jealous. I stayed home, but thats ok for now.

hows the baby thing going there Martin?

So far so good. Don't think I've screwed up too bad as a dad yet  Two weeks off work was something I could get used to, the days go by real fast.

Congrats Martin!

Nice, ha ha, yeah I hear you about the time off, took a week to work on the mine truck, wish I had a bit more.:hillbilly:

Well this years adventure was not as epic as last years may long since we knew what we were getting into so we brought bobcat and the fact the rivers where really low this year. Last year was a whole different story, we shoveled for days, had to chain up, broke parts, drifted down rivers, lets just say it was an intense adventure. enjoy the upcoming pictures from may long 2011.:hillbilly:

Starting to hit a bit of snow, then some bigger patches of snow drifts

At first the drifts were fun to chew in, but slowly they got into a chore as you started sliding into the trees. Then the snow drifts started getting continuous and I started pushing the deap wet snow with the front axle.
