A car lot is selling a 2014 Landcruiser with 56k miles. Pictures look great, they are asking 50k. I haven't looked at it yet. But according to the salesman, it shows 3 owners but in 2019 it was rear ended and the air bags deployed. He said it does not have a salvage title. Is this something I should worry about? An accident 5 years ago?

Again, pictures look good but I don't know if other problems persist.

Thanks

Sean

I know it's a T forum and land cruiser heads. But 10 year old truck with miles and accident? I don't think cruisers are that rare yet.

It would probably be fine and not cause you any problems, but at the same time Id probably pass on anything with an airbag deployment. Unless its a really rare color combo that you have to have or something, Id probably keep looking. Id probably use the word "probably" again if I keep going, so I should probably stop now.

I once owned a vehicle with an odd history. At once point, an insurance company took possession of it which makes it look like it was going to be totalled. However, it went to auction with a clean title, then bought by the small dealer who I purchased it from. It had some mild hail dings on the roof that didn't bother me, but it's totally possible it was supposed to be a salvage title but somehow that got dodged. When I went to sell it, a couple people backed out because it seemed like it could have been shady.

You're probably better off finding one that doesn't have anything weird going on.

At $50k, it's a no from me. KBB for good condition shows private party at $43-48k.

If you're planning to keep it for a long time and can get it at a steal (Say $30-35K) then it might be worth taking a hard look at it all over and taking a chance. I seriously doubt if they have it listed at $50k that any number sub $40k would even be a consideration at this point.

Screw that…if i am spending $50k+ on any car, then it better have a perfect Carfax! 3 Owners?! And Accident??!!

Go buy a brand new 4Runner or Tacoma and have peace of mind instead of that 3 owners + accident + airbags POS.

If he where hit somewhere I would say ok for 40k or less why not but as people already said with an deployed airbag…. definitely lower.
I mean a crash doesnt need to be e big thing especially on a 200 (mine got t-boned a few years before I buyed him when my friends little brother got hit by a semi) if stuff’s fixed well.
But 50k is too much in my eyes even for your overheated car market over there in the Us
