Thanks to you who have offered up springs for my sons 4Runner buildup. I still don't know if that is going to be the best route for me to go with his lift. I put out a post on the 4Runner page of MUD to try and get some insight as to how much lift comes from using 80 coils in the rear of a gen-3 4Runner, but after over 50 views there has still not been any responses. I am beginning to think 4Runner guys are not as tinker happy as Cruiserheads are. I am trying to keep the lift at 2.5 to 3" in order to stay in the safe zone for the CV angles with a 1" diff drop kit installed. If 80 coils are going to go higher than that I will have to go another route. I also have to take into consideration the ride quality and safety factor for a new driver to be operating as a DD.

Any thoughts from the Cruiser side of the board?

Hal ran OME spacers on his '97 I think, he may have some opinions on that. Check t4r.org, those guys are tinkerers.

Since I will be running stock springs for a while I installed stock control arms and have a set of arms with OME yellow bushings already installed.

lol, that was quick... selling that and the 80? If so you could buy a nice first gen taco for around what your proceeds are. Just watch out for frame rot.

"everything is for sale, everything must go"

I thought the 80 would be long gone by now.

1st gen tacomas are either clapped out or outrageously expensive (most of the time both)

Ideally I'd get a tundra, but Ill probably end up getting another accord and putting the rest toward student loans.

I really wish Kait would take the trooper and let me sell her rodeo. but I dont get anywhere barking up that tree.

OME heavies needed

I have decided that the LC front springs are going to be more lift than I need for the 4Runner and I am going to have to pony up for a real lift and do it right. BUTTT..... Now I need a set of OME Heavies for the front of my 80 to handle the weight of my new ARB that should be here next week. Right now I already have a lower than ideal front end with the Mediums, so when I add that extra 125 pounds up front I am really going to be "Stinkbugging".
I need to buy a used set of Heavies if anybody is sitting on some in their garage. If not, who has the best prices on the individual springs?

Tell me more

The only difference in the heavies and the mediums is 1" of height, they are the same spring rate, so you might as well just throw in a spacer.

All I have seen for spacers are the OME Trimpackers. Who make a good 2" spacer set that wont cost as much as a new set of springs and trimspacers?

I had a set of those mr gaskets in the rear of my last 80 before I upgraded the springs. They were done after a few thousand miles. For that style I have the man-a-fre ones on mine now and slee makes a set. But they are only 1". I think the continuous ring and polyurethane helps them hold up better in an 80.

2" - clarence has a set that Brad made for him that I don't think he is going to use. If not, I can make you a set for cheap. I printed out the templates but just haven't gotten around to making any.
You say that as if you don't have enough projects keeping you busy already. I personally would rather keep it in the club if it truly is an option. When I get the ARB on I will take some measurements and see how much lift I will need to get level and you can put me a price together.

Will it cost more if I help with the build?

slee has some for 45$
Not sure if the 2" ones brad made me will work for a 4 runner rear.
My Mr gasket ones are toast as well, but... well, you know..

The spacers will be for my Cruiser to get up to level after I hang the new ARB out front.

sweet..
I keep going back and forth on if I want to put those spacers on mine.
I think the ones I got from brad would give you a reverse rake or at least that's what I'm counting on.
I have a set of 1" for the rear I figured 2" up front and 1" the rear would give me a pretty level stance.

you could also get these
man-a-fre but you are subject to there mystery shipping (they don't tell you the shipping cost; they just send you the part with shipping billed to your card after its too late to turn it back)

Both of these options should level you out fairly well.
I was pretty level with the MR. Gasket for the ARB/Winch combo; with the beast that's on the front of the thing now... not so much.
