Modify your thoughts on a trade??

Kind of thinking I might look for a clean minitruck. Must have no rust, excellent condition. Willing to pay for a good truck but must be stock, no hacked up POS please. Location not too important but am not going to the Northeast for anything. Trade for a super clean 60?

75Pinz,

I know you said you are looking for a mini truck but I have a 1985 4Runner that I would be interesteed in trading for a 60. The 2 door runner is just not working with 3 kids. The truck IS modified a little (3" downey lift, 33" BFG muds, lockers, newfields, sliders, etc) but it is NOT hacked up. Does have a couple of trail dents and the rear seat needs to be recovered but again NOT hacked up and completely rust free. PM me if you are interested in any details. I am in AZ.

Looks very nice. If you were closer, I'd definitely want to kick some tires, probably would work a deal.......just not big on long distance purchases, but in that kind of shape and price, it won't take you long!

Wow, did'nt know there was such a club! :D
Thanx a lot, I'll surely join, would it be possible to attend one meeting without having a land-cruiser yet? I'm sure to buy one as soon as one come out someday, but it would be a great place to get usefull information and everything.

The only rust on the truck is around the rear window. Today I went and got an estimate from a very reputable company in town (they do the Porsche, Audi, Mercedes business for the local dealer) and their estimate was:

$342.35
or
$288.65 if he is able to re-use the rubber gasket around the rear window.

I have a copy of this, including the parts and labor if someone is interested

Thanks
Brett

Arya-

I'm thinking its not a bad idea - either way I'll play the role of "full disclosure" and point it out.

Thanks for the advice. This sunday I'll place the ad locally - I'm pretty confident it will sell in ND fairly quickly, if not, I'll fix the rust and re-post it.

Thanks
Brett

dude,

if you don't care if it's gas or diesel, get a gasser from cali or arizona or some where dry, then convert it to diesel later... not tying to knock canadian cruisers, but i live in BC an clean ones (at a resonable price) are getting hard to find even here!

shop around, check ebay, cruiserland, auto trader etc for a good south west truck. do some research and DO THE MATH! a cheap bj60 with a s*** body and frame, in the long run will cost you way more than a good clean gasser, and a little trip some where warm . even with the duty/exchange.

don't ask me how i know, it still hurts...

60's in the states can be had for less than a s*** bj here. and no rust like here in canada. you just have to search.

better yet, save up and get a JDM 60 and love it long time! if you don't mind RHD and selling an arm or leg.

good luck, always great fun to look for a "new" cruiser, post up when you find one!

crusty

You might be right!
That being said, I found one wich comes from Florida
The guys is selling it cheap, I'm going to see it tomorrow, and if everything is okay might buy it, the only thing is the speedo is in miles.. wonder if I could get a canadian speedometre to put it in km/h. Not a big fuss it's just that I'm used in seing km/h and not mp/h.
I'll take pictures tomorrow and show it to you guys, and then tell me what you think, maybe you'll see stuff I might miss.
Thanks for the advice buddy!

'97 LX 450 Factory Lockers, 117k, $14,000

It is Dark Emerald Pearl and in great shape both cosmetically and mechanically. The interior is in great shape, with only a few blemishes, including a scratch in the leather of the front passenger seat and a small tear in the back of the second row seat. The exterior is also very clean with only a few rock chips, most of which have been touched up and there is no rust to be found.
Mechanically, it runs strong and doesn't have any leaks, at least nothing that's hit the garage floor in the time I've owned it. The new owner will probably like to baseline all of the fluids because I never had the chance to do that myself. Tires are relatively new LTX Michelins.

In speaking about its overall quality, the sticker on the driver side door quotes a Jan '97 production date, which seems late to me but I think also explains the quality of the truck. It just feels like it's the best that Toyota could put together before they changed to production of the 100 series. It's that good IMO.

A few minor problems I've experienced in the 6 months I've owned the rig:

Loose bolts on the driver side wiper arm right after purchase made for a tricky ride home for the wife in a snowstorm.

CEL popped up once and the code was 401. Was reset and has come back from time to time.

Windshield developed a slight leak on the top passenger side. It was looked at by the "glass guy" that does the windshields at one of the top autobody places around here and it was filled since the leak was relatively minor. A new seal would be the next step if the problem persists but it has since rained and there was no leak.

Again, these are not major problems but I want to disclose anything and everything that I know and have experienced about the truck for anyone interested. Even with these minor issues, this rig has been everything I had hoped for when I bought it.

I'll post a few pics tomorrow when I get the chance. Anyone interested can PM me and I'll email more that way as well.

Hey matt, phone me - i found a cruiser for you, a bj60, i used to own it - it is great.

my number 830-1323

What kind of mileage does it get?

Thanks Louis I gave the guy a call and am going to see the truck tomorrow evening. I'm just concerned about safety regulation for Québec. But am hoping that everything goes well! :)
The guy told me the odometre stopped at 350k and that he got around 10k on it since he got it, anyway I'm not really concerned about milleage, just wished the odometre would show me the truth..
Thanks again for the info :)
Matt
