78 FJ40 Fort Worth, Texas $3500
I bought it less than a year ago. It needs way more time and effort than I have. I don't have room for it either. It is rusty where most Land Cruisers are. The rear pan thing is rusted all the way through. Bottoms of doors are rusty as are the door jams. There is rust all over it in some manner or another. As far as I can tell the frame has only surface rust and appears to be in ok shape. I flipped it on its side one day while playing with it and crushed a fender, the windshield frame and generally distorted the passenger side of the land cruiser. The top and doors were not on it when it fell over. I tried putting the passenger door back on and it will go on and shut, but you gotta force it. The windshield did not break, but it is cloudy and needs replacing anyway. Fenders and Windshield frames are plentiful so this would be a relatively easy fix. The Door closing issue might be a little tougher.
I love the thing, but I have already speant a lot of money on it and gotten almost no where and it is taking up space in my already too small dwelling.
I bought it for $3000 bucks barely running and with completely shot wheels and tires. I have speant about $4000 bucks on stuff for it, the bulk of which was new tires and wheels.
I put 5 new Wheels and Tires on it. Pro Comp XTerrain 33x12.50 on Black 15x8Rock Crawlers with 2.75" backspacing. Only a few hundred miles on em maybe. They fit awesome on it. I might be willing to sell just these wheels if anyone is interested.
It has brand new slotted disks in the front and brand new calipers with new pads. I don't think I have driven it more than 500 miles with the new Brakes. I got the slotted disks on a clearance sale from MAF.
It has a brand new Master Cylinder also.
New Starter
New Battery Duralast Gold series (big one)
New battery cables and starter cable
New Voltage regulator
New exhaust from SOR. Headers all the way out the back.
I put an Aussie Locker in the rear end. This thing is amazing with that in there. It will idle up stuff that it could barely climb before the locker.
It runs fairly well. It smokes when you start it, but other than that it goes ok. It gets terrible gas mileage and is hard pressed to get it going faster than 65 or 70.
4 wheel drive works fine. Hubs work fine. Transmission works ok. It will need a new clutch soon I suspect.
It is the original 2F engine and all of the smog stuff has been removed.
It is registered, inspected and othwerise legal for driving on Texas highways.
I have the hard top, ambulance doors, full doors, soft half doors, and a mesh bikini top for it.
It has a new stereo in it, but you can't hear it anyway. I have pictures of it with the top on it prior to getting new tires and flipping it on its side here:

I'll add some pictures of it now when I get a chance.
I have a new Jerry Can for the back too.
