Lower it into THE floor behind the DS, like Chicago has his gastank. Put à lid on it then you won't lose space in the rear.

Thanks a ton for the info will go try it on wednesday. I roughly measured the belt and I came up with 87ish so that should work great.
Okay I have one last thing to make for this. I need to find a place for the battery. I have over looked this apperantly. I have no idea where I should mount it and where to begin. I am keeping the blower motor. I am more brain dead than usual and getting tunnel vison. Any pics or ideas, in need of some serious help. Thanks gents
I would mount it to the frame or the body, but not to both. I think when you start twisting things up you will crack the fender the way you have it now.
Off-Topic..... What steering setup are you going with? Gear box, pump, hydro assist, etc.....
Need some input from you guys that know alot about chevy motors and flywheels. I may have taken a giant leap backwards today. I went to bolt my started in and it will not fit. I am using a 88 TBi 305 with flywheel and the cast bellhousing from a 64ish pickup. from what I can see the starter collar (i think that is what it is called) is to big to slid in and it also looks like it should bolt into the bellhousing not the motor? So if I can get a starter for a 64ish pickup will it match the 88 flywheel teeth wise and work. Hope I am not screwed. here![]()
I just about forgot the highlight of the day.I know it gross but worth sharing. I was working under the cruiser and heard the dog my shop buddy (1.5 old lab) started to vomit. So I yelled at him to get out and turned and this is what came out. That is a 5/8 bolt 2 1/2" long and a rock the size of a golf ball. No wonder I am missing bolts. I thought I was crazy this whole time
