As you all know there has been talk about canceling this year’s event due to lack of registration. Due to the fact that the online registration was just restored I am moving the decision back to 8/19. We need 40 rigs to break even and right now we are nowhere near that. My position is that if we don’t have 30 by 8/19 we will have to cancel the event. So if you are planning on going please send in your registration ASAP, if we do cancel all money will be refunded.

I will update this thread each evening with the current count.

except sat

Thanks Rob

By 8/19?

Does nobody remember years past?

I think we didn't start getting tons of registrations till the end of August. I could be wrong, but I think we've had this little freak out three years in a row now.

Looking at the thread from 2007 Zane didn't even sign up till the 17th, and MoJ to the 19th, and that's just glancing at some threads.

What is it going to cost besides time to extend the deadline. I would rather see a scaled back version than cancelation of the event. We are going to end up going weather or not the event takes place. Do you lose a deposit or what else. It takes time to get the word out and I have seen more than 12 people say they are going.

I also think you will get a boost after TCCC this weekend

Most of the costs for the event are direct pass-through (park fees / passenger fees / etc.). Costs that are fixed and don't vary are insurance, advertising (TT, banner, etc.). There may be some ways to tweak the budget and knock out some non-essentials to see where the rock bottom attendee # is. Our sign-up is cheap on the hope/expectation that any proceeds above and beyond cost will come from raffle sales.

Does that include my registration? I did it online over lunch today.

And I too will be going that weekend no matter what.

Trail Team with be there

The FJC Trail Team is now scheduled to be there! Maybe we should look at tapping into the membership dues if we have to (isn't that what they are for?) Although I'm sure the numbers will arrive given the proper time.

Personally it would be embarrassing to cancel on a few perceived negative views attempting to predict the outcome. (that will make me some friends :D)

Remember, membership dues are only $10.00, so we don't raise lots of money that way. Peggy

I'd planned to attend and even scheduled my vacation accordingly, but my grandfather has recently suffered a series of strokes. He's stable but now has a significantly reduced life expectancy. I've decided to head to the east coast that week to visit him as it might be my last opportunity.

That being said, if there is anything that I can do to help that doesn't require my presence at the park please let me know.

So.........................was the deadline the 19th or is it September 1st?
