Hey guys...sorry I have been out of the loop for a bit. As Mike said...I got out of the hospital on Thursday (last) and I have been home now for one week. The legs are healing and all the surgeries went well. I have some really cool bent hardware from the accident...they pulled out some rods, screws, etc. The doctors were really surprised at the damage my dogs caused my legs and the old hardware they removed.

I want to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts. I have to say I am the recipient of a minor miracle...thus far the pain has been minor. I was off of the major painkillers by Saturday and switched over to regular Tylenol. I have now moved of of Tylenol. So, for having two broken femurs and being a little over one week from surgery on one leg and almost two weeks on the other...I am feeling and doing great. So, thank you very much to everyone for those thoughts and prayers.

I am getting along pretty well, my Dad has been in town helping us out this week, getting things adjusted to life in a wheelchair for the next few months and helping with the dogs. Randi (my wife) is doing great...she has been awesome and has been doing great in taking care of me and getting back to work. I have had a doctor's appointment, home nurse visit, and a physical therapist come over and all of them have given me two thumbs up. Also, I have three friends who are all physical therapists and they have been giving me exercises to do...all in an effort to get me up on my feet as soon as possible.

I am going to start working from home next week. It will probably be a month or so before I can get back to work (at the office) and it will probably be at least 6-8 months until I can get back on the road. My job is about 60% international travel...so, things are going to be a little different for me over the next 6-8 months as I adjust to working in an office full-time.

Anyway, today was a great day...my Dad and I took the 80 out for a little ride. It was a bit of a challenge to get me in the truck...but, just going for a cruise was well worth it. We drove around for an hour or so and had lunch...it was a great afternoon.

I'll keep you guys updated as I hear more from the doctors and get involved more in my physical therapy. All in all though...I am feeling great for a guy with two broken legs.

Yeah I picked up the REPR...but, I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I also picked up a LMT Defender lower and am ordering a LWRCI 6.8 PSD upper. So, once I get on my feet I should be good to go. I was supposed to go to some training in March down in Texas (Pat Rogers) but, with my injuries...that is not going to happen.

Cheers.

Indeed! this is so good to hear.

Glad to hear you are doing so well!

We can go do some "training" in the bottoms :grinpimp:

Sounds like a weekend of wheeling...

Mark, so glad you are doing well.

Mark if you are recuperating this fast ( i.e already off painkillers), you should be up and around in no time!

It is great that you have physical therapists that are friends that can give you some exercises to strengthen your legs. This will speed up your already fast pace of recovery.

Love it that you rode in the 80! that must have felt good to take a ride.

The healing power of wheeling :hillbilly:

Glad you are in good spirits and feeling better!

we'll have to go blow some s*** up when you get up and around....

I thought I would shoot a quick update. Despite the unexpected snow in Memphis...things are progressing well in regards to my two legs. I am 4 weeks post-op for the left leg and just shy of that mark for the right leg. I still have been pain free and my flexibility (range of motion) has almost come back to pre-accident levels.

I was supposed to start partial weight bearing in the Campbell Clinic's (Orthopedic Specialty Clinic) pool today...but, due to the weather that has been cancelled. Hopefully, I will start that later this week.

I also got my new wheelchair today...a much lighter and faster model...all aluminum and carbonfiber. So, that should help me get out and about a little more. The 4 week mark is important as healing (bone growth) should really start to develop between now and 8 weeks. So, I am pretty excited about the healing process thus far. I am not going to push it...but, I am hoping to be able to get up on crutches (even just for a little bit) by the end of this month. However, I am still going to be wheelchair bound for quite some time until the legs are fully healed and ready for full weight bearing activities.

Thanks again for everyone's continued thoughts, prayers, and concerns.

Now it's time to really hop up that wheel chair! Maybe you could build some really sweet jumps to take it over!

Glad you are feeling better!

Later,
