I would second that a V8 is overkill. The 6 has plenty of power, even with the larger tires.
The V6 rigs are blowing up rear ends left and right.
I can't imagine the kinds of problems a V8 would cause.
the V6 are not making the same, mmmm well closer amount of HP as same as V8 4.7 .. ?
The 4.0V6 vvti does not make the same HP, but it is close enough that, IMO, the swap would not be worth it at all.
You are talking about less than 30HP/ 40ft-lbs gain w/ the V8 vvti.
The V8 torque is better as it comes in max at 1000rpms lower, but as the engine swap would cost alot, it seems silly to swap for so little gain.
that is true dan! The V8 is butter smooth, has that sound- as a factory option yes! but a DIY retrofit... i say not worth it... now if I had a nice 4.7 to drop into the 80 or a 60..or a 55...![]()
