I just installed a Flex-a-lite dual 13.5 inch fan set-up in mine, had to modify things a bit since the fan required 4" of clearance and I only had about 3.5". Took a little work but these fans are amazing. I can now sit in traffic all day with the A/C running and it never budges above 190º. I would highly recommend these fans to anyone! I will try to get some pics soon.

Randy is installing a similar setup.

Is yours with the mechanical fan or as a replacement? Mine is as a replacement.

I have just started my turbo upgrade on Dragonazul, my wife's Diesel FJ80. It has a Chevy 6.2L Diesel and uses the stock A440 transmission.

I am using the 6.5L Diesel turbo, intake and exhaust manifolds. The goal is to have about 10PSI of boost.

Also purchased all the parts to do a serpentine conversion. i am throwing my alternator V-belt every month and have to tighten it every week. Randy looked at it and explained the alt. bracket is off center. I still want the serpentine.

The truck is now at Randy's and he will perform the magic to get it setup and running perfectly.

I have some engine before pics @

6.2L Diesel

Previous to the turbo, the truck runs well and has some good power. I am not an Automatic type of guy, so I do not like it shifting when it thinks it is a good idea, but I can get used to that. The goal is to tow with the 80, so I decided I needed the turbo.

Will keep you posted.

I'm a newbie to the forum. Just joined a few days ago, but I have been following for awhile.

I am also doing a 6.2L diesel conversion into an FJ80, and I was wondering about your project. Did you get your turbo installed?

Also, I was wondering if you used the Marks adapter with the A440F transmission, or did you switch over to the 4L60, or 4L60E?

I am looking for someone who has used the Marks adapter to see what the engine clearances are arounf the firewall.

Thanks.

I have an 86 c2500 that i bought from a contruction company couple years ago. its up and running still NA. It has been overhauled once and only once. This was due because the removed and oil cooler line instead of replacing it. diesels hate it when their oil cant be cool tears them up. This truck has supposidely about 300,000 miles but i think it is closer to 400,000. the couldnt remember how many times the odmeter turn. This truck hauled and towed on average 10,000 lbs just about every day of it life and did it at 70 mph. its a good truck. I've had the pump sent out and turn up to match my pop off of 1700 psi and the pump is advanced 3-4 degrees. No EGR system or factory itake. i plan on putting a supercharger on it. Super chargers to take horsepower but they add alot of torque especially at low rpms which is where diesel operate. Turbos are most effective at high rpm. they speed up under load because of lots of hot gases from unburnt fuel. which the unburt fuel is due to you foot going farther in to the throttle. i hopefully plan on either getting a NV4500 to put behind it after i put the blower on. FYI no matter what kind of diesel it is idi, idiT, DIT add 300-500 rpms over its peak torque and that is where the best fuel economy is. This only applies to mechanical injection. the newer common rails can have the optimum fuel effciency set just about any where in the rpm range.
