Are you planning on equivalent ride/steer ON-ROAD as the OEM?
In other words, how will it function at 75MPH?

steering geometry will remain factory. these will obviously have the "for off-road use only" clause, for obvious reasons.

A Ruffstuff Hi9 housing, 80 knuckle balls and these knuckles would make a really nice 80 axle, and allow you to keep the ABS intact.

Lets see some pictures or at least an engineering drawing. Is this just a thought or something real?

you're on the right track to a killer toyota front axle, just add some longfields to the mix.

i will not post pics or drawings at this time, sorry.
this is far from just a thought. i have too much invested in this to turn back, but thanks for asking. i might need to stay out of this thread until i have parts on the shelf ready to ship.

Nice work...I thinks folks can appreciate the need to keep pics on the qt until certain milestones have been met.

Will the steering geometry work with readily available steering rams? i.e. 6" or 8" cylinders?

I kept a set of 80 series balls hoping someone would make hi steer knuckles.
The longfields would be great but the bigger 80 series brakes are what i am after.
I hope if you are going through with this you are making them for the 80 series caliper.

thanks, and these will be happy with an 8" ram.

yep, the rest stays 80. i see no way (or need) to improve the already massive brakes.

Awesome! I've been sitting on an fj80 front axle for ten years waiting for someone to make a good (yet reasonably priced) high-steer kit that I can use with leaf springs on a 1st gen 4runner, excited to see it finally happening.

This is interesting...

So are you making new arms as well, or trying to fit mini truck arms (existing arms available) onto the knuckle?

Do you realize the they are different from the mini/40 to the 80? The 80 is 20mm and the mini/40 is 17mm...

I am excited about this, perfect for our new front 9.5 housing and I won't have to make the high steer for it!

I want to hear more. This dosen't use the ABS sensor hole does it? Most of the people that would want to use these need to pass a safety inspection and need it to work...
the sensors will be relocated since the new arms will cover the area where they were from the factory. a plug will be provided for all the guys who don't need the sensors.
i think i understood dans question, he was referring to the factory location of the sensor, which doesn't make sense when picturing the arm up there.

the other question, well, i think some of us know what that was all about. kinda funny actually.

what about prices???

what about prices???

i am still incurring costs on these parts. this is my first production for any part and the beginning of my new career. if i knew more about every cost i would have all the way up to the date these parts are shipped, i could give you a price right now. and believe me, i want to give you guys prices right now as well as pictures. i understand that many of you will need to save some money or decide on which route to go so you can plan your build, and my price will affect your decision. thanks for your patience and let me assure you that my prices will be fair. i have never had the intention of getting rich off of these, just the opportunity to make a name for myself with innovation.

We made arms for them, so yes I know the differences. I was not clear if Billy was planning to make new knuckles that took existing arms, or if he was planning to offer arms as well.

Billy mentioned that he is going to be cheaper than the other solutions out there (which I assume is ours). I just have a tough time seeing how you can cast and machine two knuckles and produce arms to go with them for considerably less than what we sell the arms for.

As for the ABS, it would be cool to retain that. However we never intended to offer the arms to people with streetable 80's. In fact most of the applications are buggies where the ABS does not matter.

i know that i cant sell 2 knuckles, 2 arms, 2 lower bearing caps, and hardware cheaper than your kit. when i said i'd like to sell arms cheaper than what's out there, i was talking about making just the arms. OTT made some arms too that were pricey, so it's not just you. my plans changed because i wanted to do something different, something geared toward competition. please dont take offense to anything i may have said about your arms. i never said they were junk though, in fact i almost bought a set last year. i don't like to think of myself as competing with you, i'm competing with myself. if i can open up the 80 market a little more, think about the people who might go to you for parts that i don't sell.
i would like to point out right now that i have no desire to bash any other vendors, or to claim that i have the best this or that. i just want to make some parts to help people like myself make the best of their toyotas.
thanks for understanding, -billy
