For 1988 - 1990 FJ62's, why is there two options for the A/C Belt? How do I know which to choose?

BELT, V (COOLER COMPRESSOR TO CRANKSHAFT PULLEY), NO.1
1] 99332-11175 / 99332-11175-83
2] 99332-11180 / 99332-11180-83

Why the two options?

The other two belts do not have options:
• BELT, V(FOR FAN & ALTERNATOR) 90916-02141
• BELT, V(FOR AIR PUMP) 90916-02193

There is a specification break at august 1988. You should confirm your build date (month/year) then purchase the appropriate belt. If your build date is 8/1988 then you should search by your VIN number.

there is in fact ONLY 5mm that's right 5 single millimeters difference in length in the 2 belts above , and in-fact there 100% interchangeable part #'s

this is because the adjustment range of the tensioner method here has i much much wider range of millimeters , like over 50+

so why Toyota started with the shorter one , then had a bright idea to make it a the thickness of
2 Thomas Jefferson Nickles longer ?

is one of the great LAND CRUISER parts mystery's that may never be solved ?

THANK YOU SIR! Yes of course, "build date break!" How silly of me to forget the intricacies of Land Cruisers!

Why? There is a similar spec break in the AC Compressor. might be pulley size or something.

In my mind, there are only three belts on the rig?

Is this a fourth set of numbers that you have added here?

Compressor Assy, Cooler"
88320-60151 / 08.1987 - 08.1988
88320-60280 / 08.1988 - 01.1990

These two belts are standard fitment from 08.1987 - 01.1990:

1] BELT, V (FOR FAN & ALTERNATOR) 90916-02141
2] BELT, V (FOR AIR PUMP) 90916-02193

These fitments are based on month of build-date (08/1988 is the split month) so it will be Vin Specific:
Belt, V (Cooler Compressor To Crankshaft Pulley)
3a] 99332-11180 / 99332-11180-83 Date Range: 08.1987 - 08.1988
3b] 99332-11175 / 99332-11175-83 Date Range: 08.1988 - 01.1990

PS: THANK YOU FOR THIS INFO!!!

The longer belt makes it much easier.I think Toyota figured out the first belt was a little tough to put on.I’ve used both.

But they did change the Compressor Assy, Cooler itself:

Compressor Assy, Cooler
88320-60151 / 08.1987 - 08.1988
88320-60280 / 08.1988 - 01.1990

Maybe there is a different pulley size?
