Do you mean use the FJ45 transfer case? On the 60 series transmission?

What year transfer case and what year/model transmission?

i just finished a spl;it case rebuild/vacuum to mechanical shifter conversion. here's a pic, might do a short write-up if it helps.

Hi georg, did you end up doing that write up? I'd be interested in seeing it. I have a HJ61 vacuum transfer and I have a manual transfer off FJ45. Can I use the selector shaft that is longer out off the FJ45 transfer? Where do you install the detent ball and spring?

Kid, the vac shift t-case housing has to be torn down, drilled and tapped for a detent ball.
Or just teardown the 61 t-case and the 45 t-case, and rebuild using the 45 case housing and all the manual shift parts.
Use a complete gearset from one t-case, because there is a change in gear tooth count in 1986, IIRC.

Thanks Jim! I think I will teardown and use the FJ45 manual shift parts.
