FJ62 A/C overhaul with Denso 10P15C compressor rebuild

Check your compressor carefully. Mine was leaking like a sieve from the housing seams. When taking it apart, I found severe corrosion thay had creeped under the o-rings. I doubt it would have sealed with new orings.

Rock Auto has a *new* compressor for these things,and I gave that a shot. It's Korean made. Working good so far.

Okay, that settles it then. I’ll do a reseal on mine. Thank you. For the clutch air gap part where all that old grease is…do you recommend just globbing it up with some flavor of high temp moly? Or just a nice thin layer?

Are you referring to the gap between the friction plates on the clutch? It's been so long since I've done the job that I can't picture how the clutch assembly was set up.

Yikes! That's actually the grease that came out of your sealed bearing after it failed. The grease needs to be thoroughly cleaned away, and the old bearing removed and replaced with a new Koyo (ideally) or Timken bearing. The friction surfaces that create the air gap should be clean and dry.

Oh man! The wonderful things you learn from fellow Mudders. Thank you. I’ll make that change and replace the bearing. I saw a forum somewhere with the correct bearing part number.
