Trail spare leaf spring u-bolted to the front bumper...that's pretty smart.

Good pics and all, but where are the pics of you stuck in my truck? ;) I was curious what happened because we were back in camp and had finished our first survival beer before you made it back down. Plus, I pulled off the winch cable and noted that at least 75 feet of it had been used. So what's the story?

Busted.

High again...

Phase III is really a delayed Part II of Phase I, and hopefully the precursor of Phase IV, aka Phase I, Part III - Operation PermaHigh.

We touched down at the Colorado Springs airport, which was pleasant AF compared to arriving via Denver International.

Within 15 minutes of touchdown, we had our bags and rental car, which was located only 50 feet outside the front door. :easybutton:

Does this high AF trip include a job interview?

Not yet. We’re still a year out, and Mrs. Cam needed further convincing that it was worth it. She’s been doing research on neighborhoods and schools and wanted to look at those in more detail.

The kids were on fall break, so we drug them along. Since we didn’t do our usual fall beach trip with the family, Mrs. Cam’s parents tagged along too (but got their own accommodations). This was a huge gamble, but if they had a good time it would pay big dividends toward OPH.

Since we had the seasoned citizens with us, we mostly stuck to the easy sights. No crazy hikes straight up the incline. After we got checked in to our Airbnb, we took MawMaw & PawPaw to Garden of the Gods.

We totally lucked out on the weather. The previous weeks were cooler and rainy, but this week had highs in the low 70’s and bluebird skies.

I'd move back to Colorado Springs in a heartbeat

On a difficulty scale of 1-10, GotG is a 0.25, but it completely wiped out the flatlander older folks who aren’t super active and one of whom may have a heart condition.

Not wanting to eff up the sale, we put a squash to the easy hikes we had planned with the folks.

So, we drove over to the Palmer Park Overlook, which involves zero hiking.

I love it there. Seems to be the best possible mix of location, weather, scenery, traffic, outdoor accessibility, affordability, some snow but not too much, number of numbskulls, etc.

There’s probably better places in each category, but at the expense of the others. Looks like people are starting to figure this out. Prices are on the rise.

We stayed in the NW part of town this time, south of the Airforce Academy.

To the west you have mountain views, to the east, views of the city. Pretty dope.

The next morning, we had a realtor show us around while the in-laws recovered. After that, we hit the indoor climbing gym.

After a taste of the climbing gym, the kids were 100% sold.

Check out Monument and Black Forrest areas. It’s been a while but they were solid choices a few years ago

The next day, with the grandparents recovered and back in fighting shape, we decided to rob our brains of oxygen and head to Estes Park/Rocky Mountain NP to get high again.
