I am collecting parts for an FJ80 LS Swap and am planning on going with the FJ60 T case to save money on the adapter. Located in Santa Barbara and willing to drive to pick it up.

there are a few versions of the 60 split case. any idea which one you want?

Do you have a recommendation? I have been reading the "split case" is a strong one. I am just trying to save money where I can on my swap and the FJ60 to 4L80E adapter is half the price as the FJ80 T case adapter + I want to do away with full time 4wd.

Thanks for any input .

They are all strong. The biggest difference is that if you’re after the 38mm version, you are competing against buyers looking to do the H55 swap. The earlier 32mm cases are pretty plentiful. I’ve got one here in Burbank attached to the original 4speed trans, $300 for the pair, and can drive it as far west as Simi Valley twice a week to save a bundle on shipping.

Let me do a little bit more research, I just lined up a 4L80E I am checking out tonight and waiting to hear back from Marks in Australia who makes the adapter. I am in Santa Barbara and go to LA often so I would be able to meet up and pick it up one day after work this week.

"Transfer Case

This adapter assembly fits August 1980 to 1989 transfer cases. The transfer case design was changed to a split-case design configuration with a 19 tooth internal spline on the input gear."

According to that this case should work. Is there much of a strength difference between the 2 cases?
