So.......

https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=176586

I started the above thread in the diesel section since it was most applicable but... I don't want ya'll to think I am lounging around on my laurels:grinpimp:

Thanks to Gary for the use of his shop:beer:

and of course to John B. for helping me for 16 hours Friday (includes drivetime)

Pulling two motors in one day (and two heavy SOB's at that) is a chore, especially with over 4 hrs of drive time invoved....

Just a little history...... Gary bought a Canadian spec HJ-60 (imported to the US by the GOV) which was wrecked cosmetically.. so we traded my hopped up Jim C. 2F for all the 24V wiring harnesses, accessories, as well as the 6 cyl. 2H factory Toyota diesel:cheers:

Some people would just make a hybrid wiring harness, keeping everything non-engine related 12V and buying 12V diesel components like starter, glow plugs, etc. because in some markets, the HJ came in 12V config... but.... not me! I have time but not money... so needless to say, I am swapping everything from the tailights to the cig. lighter... literally, FJ60 to HJ60:grinpimp:

All this is going into the '87 60 which already has the H55F 5-speed tranny... should get over 20MPG's! quite an improvement for a daily driver:bounce:

Some highlights of this deal are that the HJ reads only 70K miles;) and the Jim C. 2F barely has 10K miles on it:D so it will make it's way into Gary's FJ-55 so... look for a screaming 2F in a pig on a trail near you sometime in the future:beer:

I'll post updates... I need to get this done ASAP as my wife does not favor driving the 45 to work and Eva's car seat is not safe to be mounted in there:frown: Stay tuned!

I want to here more about the 20MPG's:eek:

I wish I could make it up to help out...

Good luck with the harness:bounce::bounce2::bounce:

wow 36 views from locals and no comments? I guess I need to do something more interesting to get some feedback :lol::lol:

it is going well, thanks to John, the 2H is in and ready to be reconnected to its lifeline.. about 15 feet of wire loom in 24V configuration:beer:

Dude, we're numb from trying to keep up with your exploits lately. Hell, I'm still working on replacing my brake fluid reservoir cap.

And maybe we're all jealous that you have a diesel. :flipoff2:

Good work!

BTW--you still want to try to hook up to MTB sometime?

hijack!

nice! remind me to follow you so i don't miss the show.

Brains fried from judicious overtime at work. I've just been sitting here reading in quiet amazment.

Damn Jeff, I guess I need to read the forums every day just to keep up with your projects :D.
A 45, a Taco and a Diesel swap in a 60. I have a hard time just finding the time to rotate my tires and change the oil... LOL. It's kind of like reading stories of the big game hunters in Africa as a kid and thinking, "I want to do that when I grow up". Keep up the good work!

PS- Do you think the ambulance doors could be grafted on the back of my FJC?

Glad to see the 2H has found a new vehicle. That motor seemed to run great when I bought it and sold it to Gary. Good luck with the project.

Nice! I still haven't replaced my brake fluid reservoir cap. Anyone got the FSM page for that? :D

I just filled up with B99 from Soy Oil grown here in PA. Smells great, 3.25$ per gallon, and no money went to the middle east, Big Oil Companies, the oil lobby, and my carbon output is neutral.

Biodiesel is a "balanced fuel" meaning it really does reduce emissions because it takes less to produce and carbon intake from the plants deriving the plant oil reduces CO2..........

Oh yeah, I am moving a 300 gal tote into my garage and running the home oil furnace and the cruiser off it : )

rant off! : )

But I have an 80...

You go, man. Strong work, as someone says in the 80s tech forum.

the 60 is actually my sisters ;) licensed in KY since it had zero emissions equipment from its previous years spent in central America, it had no cat, air rail, smog pump, not one thing... this was also the impetus to clean it up at the tailpipe, 10 MPG's with nothing to curtail the output was making me insane.

So yes, PA would not pass it... though some states I heard allow diesel conversions in order to run BioD or blends and it is acceptable and even give tax breaks for running BioD.
