fj60 squeaky clutch pedal

how do you fix a 1987 fj60 4spd squeak clutch pedal -- when i push it in it squeaks every time -- didnt know if something was going out -- looks to have a new clutch master and new slave --- does it have a plastic bushing on these somewhere

Mine was squeaking the other day. Just spray some silicone lube where the pedal connects to the master cylinder and the boot where the rod enters the firewall.

mine squeaks, but it's from outside the cabin, not inside. I've never done anything about it,though.

There is a little pin that holds the clutch master to the pedal arm, it can groove out over time...just put a little grease on it that should do the trick. I fixed my squeaks that way, grease anything that pivots under the dash.

the squeak is coming from under the truck - i have the cover off and can here it when the bearing moves back and forth with the truck off -- while idling it also likes to make a noise but when the clutch is pressed just a little it goes away

When the clutch is pressed just a little bit and the noise goes away... Check the adjustment. At slave and master if early FJ60. Otherwise it's only at the pedal (master).

Squeaky points could be the pedal itself inside the cab. Or possibly the TO bearing sliding on the front bearing retainer on the transmission. IIRC the manual says you can apply a light coat of grease on it.

I'd really suspect throwout bearing for making the noise. Until recently I had the incorrect parts for my 84 ("early" FJ60) Fixed it and things work much better.

Grease from your grease gun should work. Put some on your finger and have at it.

I had same problem. I applied a magic lubricant with a long syringe to the shaft. As it started spinning it "melted" into the squeaky area. Another squeaky point is on the clutch fork where it pivots on the ball. Used the same stuff. Its Called RVS. After putting that stuff on, it is perfectly quiet.

I have used it in the engine. I bought it based on the science and research data, and I think it is one of those things that the improvement or benefit might not be noticeable for a long time to come. I put it in every oil on the truck. We'll see.....

finally got the squeaky clutch fixed -- my clutch master cylinder was a aftermarket type - previous owner had it replaced at Alert transmission and brakes in Knoxville for crazy $396.44 and they didnt even replace the slave at the same time and 2 months later they charged $338.57 to replace the slave cylinder what a rip off -- these were replaced just about 10000 miles ago - so it started leaking some so i replaced it today with a aisin for $38 ebay -- and now it no longer squeaks everytime i press the clutch in ---

now i have to still get to the throwout bearing sometime so i dont have to listen to that squealing sound --

this job was very easy to do - maybe 45 min. and thats waiting for the wife to come help me pump the pedal -- tools needed 12mm socket to remove the master cylinder and 12mm wrench to adjust the pedal play - needle nose pliers to pull the pin - 10mm brake wrench for the slave bleeder valve and thats it -- oh fluid

RVS applied from a syringe. Mine has stayed quiet for months. The bird chirp went away almost immediately.

Just for posterity, I had the squeaking clutch and it was the fork pivot inside the bell housing. Some spray lube and it’s totally silent now.
