what do those fc mounts run?

I guess he is not going to wheel it much? The 400hp will kill birfs even longs.

don builds these mounts one at a time. he does not sell them in kit form, they're too specific for each application and he hates producing kits. to say that he takes pride in his work would be an understatement. so he's not too keen to produce a kit at the risk of an end-user doing less than stellar finish work. bad welds would bum him out, especially on one of his creations. so no kits. if the vehicle is not at our shop, he won't build mounts or skid plates for it. too many variables........

as for wheeling, this 60 will be mostly street driven and will go on some mild trail rides up in the sierras, but no rubicon trips or such.

That maggie will really help with low end power. Keeping stock pulley on it? Who is going to do the tuning on the pcm? I would upgrade the clutches and band with a shift kit to keep the tranny good for a long time.

Holy s***. That is classic!!! A blower on a FJ60. Racing saddle on a jackass??

That's what I was thinking.,

We'd better get a video or two of some 4WD donuts when this build is done.

the supercharger came with a tuner and lots of info/instructions. i ordered it thru another shop that specializes in supercharging late model engines so i could get good tech support.
as for the trans, i spent 12 years of my professional life in the transmission industry. so the trans will get the "full treatment" including a ceramic double bearing supported lockup clutch in the converter, kevlar extra wide band, billet drum, all kevlar or blue plate frictions, a mild shift kit, .......you get the picture.

i'm not going to hot-rod the engine too much because this rig needs to remain very streetable and reliable. so i'm building it accordingly.

Nice Georg!

That thing should put out more towards 500.... :hillbilly:.

got some more work done today. i had to remove the tahoe style oil pan to get more clearance, so i ordered a new gm cast pan for an ls1 in a camaro along with the proper pickup. this gains you about 3.5" extra clearance. it's still going to be tight with the minimal lift but it'll work just fine.

here are a couple of pics of both pans so you can get a rough idea.

i got the new pan loosely bolted up for mock-up but final install will have top wait a couple of weeks. there's no way to install the new shallower oil pick-up with the engine mated to the trans.
once we get the engine and transmission mounts done, the entire powertrain will come back out for final frame welding, prep and paint. at that time i will split the trans from the engine to get the neccessary trans work done, the t-case built and at that point i can get the oil pick-up in there as well.
then i can run the fuel lines, install the powertrain for the last time ( hopefully ) and run the rest of the wiring and plumbing.
i still need to come up with a new rad and a mount for it along with mounting the intercooler as well. lots of small details to work on but it's a rewarding job and the finished product will be well worth the effort.

Damn- This is going to be one killer rig. I don't know what I would do if I mashed the skinny pedal in the 62 & something actually happened!

Keep up the good work Georg. You rock!

thanks randy.
part of the reason why i do what i do is because i like oddball conversions and having to figure things out. building cruisers for other people offers me the chance to do so without having to flip the bill myself. sure, i don't get to drive the finished produt a whole lot but the challenge is to make them work right and drive well. the way i look at it is that i can only build a limited amount of vehicles in my lifetime. so i want to make sure that i spend my time doing what i like to do.

re. need more power

sounds like the diesel section over here, every second post is need more power. we can turbo but that leaves us with the six cylinder stock hp.

good deal, Magnacharger customer service is pretty good. Cant wait to see how this thing turns out.

finally an update

ran into a slight snag, well, not so slight, but now we're back on track.

don aka fcfabrication got the engine mounts in, built the custom skid plate/trans mount/x-member/track bar mount. so the engine is back out along with the geartrain.
meanwhile i got the transmission worked over, had the torque converter beefed up as much as we could and today i finished the t-case build.

replacement engine will be here tomorrow ( the original engine had a major internal issue  ), then i'll need to pull the blower off the old engine and install it on the new one, get the complete powertrain back in there and then we'll be off to the races; plumbing and wiring.

some pics.......

Are auto's getting shorter now a days??

optical illusion

the late model transmissions look different because the main body has gained some girth and the bell housings are detachable. the one in the pic above is a 2006 4L65E so it's "thicker" than the th700s and earlier 4L60Es we're used to. overall length has stayed pretty much the same. the one in the pic also has the 6-bolt to 4-bolt adapter housing bolted to the rear of the main case.

might as well share some more details.

here are a few pics of the replacement ps pump from PSC. i had to go with a remote reservoir pump because of the very limited space between the pump and ps box. so this one fit the bill.
