Any updates? Know its been cold and nasty but I wanna see this thing up and runnin!
no update. Finished the truck and got new tires on it. Then I have just been lazy since it's been cold cold cold! But I figured everyone wants to see progress so it's a kick in my ass to get me out there and start doing stuff. I was going to clean the shop today and go from there. I want the trans up before Christmas. So I gotta get into gear here

Let me know when you need help. Got my last final tonight and a new baby coming tomorrow but I'm sure that I could get away when you need some help.
I've been itching myself to get out and work on the cruiser but this inversion crap just makes ya wanna hide out inside wearing a respiratory mask.

I hear ya and I will let you know if I come across needing help. No offense to you at all but I usually do random hours and kinda just work at it by myself.

Well I kept up to my word and went out there today and got this all cleaned up and the ranger setup on a work table to put back together and I was even working on the cruiser draining all the gas until I went shin deep in oil/solvent and had to go throw away my clothes. At that point I called it a night and will get a lot done tomorrow

Didn't do anything on Wednesday being I was moving a hot tub and today I had to build this hand rail but I did work on it today. I got a couple things mounted and as you can see I got the ranger overdrive put together somewhat

Been a long time since I posted. I have recently got a new job wiring fiber optics and have been working for 3 weeks now there and work everyday except sunday so I finally kicked myself in the ass and got the ranger all cleaned up and built and sealed up and sealed and bolted to the h55f. I will make mounts tomorrow and possibly get it up. I only get a couple hours a day to go out there and work. Sorry for anyone that I have left hanging on this build but I will have cash flow again to finish it now!

Got a ton of wires ran today and lengthened, shortened, loomed ect. Still have a few but not much. I'm making the trans mounts tomorrow or Thursday. And probably taking Saturday off to finish wiring including my triple gauge pod and trans up and interior buttoned up. I'm hoping it will be done in 4-6 weeks!

I've got a question for you pertaining to the Ranger OD. In post 128, the second picture, there is a blue colored plate covering the bearing for the countershaft. Do you remember how thick that plate is?

I have a used Ranger that I'm planning to use in my FJ40. That blue plate on my Ranger has some pitting. I may need to replace that plate if the pitting penetrates too far through the plate. I need to know how thick that plate is so I can determine if I need to replace it.

Thanks, Don

Don I honestly don't remember if I were to guess I would say 1/8 inch thick. Its a pretty stout piece for what it is if that helps. But mine has a build date of 3/89 so it could be different then yours

Thanks for your reply. I was hoping for an answer like yours. I'm thinking of very carefully cleaning the surface of that plate, especially the pitted area, and coating it with something.

I don't know the build date, however I'm thinking that it is an older item. I'm not sure where to look, or how to decipher any date code. Do you have any insight on this?

Don

I wouldn't worry too much about the pitting unless its got pin holes coming through. To find the build date take the rear adapter plate where the trans bolts up off there should be like 8 Alan heads to take out. When you do clean up the surface on the ranger housing side and at the bottom left corner will be the build date

My youngest little dude turns two years old today. Not going anywhere to stab a trans.
