Fourrunner, Your PM capacity has been exceeded the site says, so I will post this here.
I got one of the bumper kits from you. I'm trying to figure out the most effective way to remove the factory rivets that are in the bumper bracket. I have a plasma cutter, but dont want to mess up the brackets as I want to be able to give them to the guy who wanted my rear bumper. I have heard of drilling through them the knocking them out with an pointed tip on an air chisel. What did you find that worked for you? Thanks for your time

I have another order of bumpers going out. Three, maybe four, have been spoken for. Let me know if you are interested. This set will be laser cut, not plasma, so the fit and finish will be improved.

Are there still any upspoken for kits?

I have two kits that are not spoken for. Send me an email to tetoncruisers (at) gmail (dot) com and we can discuss the details.

I currently have this kit out to be cut and have had a few people back out. I have 3 kits unspoken for. If anyone wants one, please email at the link listed at the beginning of the thread.

I have another order going in with two of the kits spoken for. One available. These will be laser cut as well. Last batch looked great and wouldn't expect the next three to be any different.

I don't have enough interest at this time to get another order placed. I did have another show interest, but haven't heard back from him. I apologize for the delay. One more interested party and I can kick off the shop.

60's rear bumper kit

Hi -enjoyed your bumper post.
I've had this 86 HJ60 for about six months and looking at getting the rear bumper improved from stock to solid and able to tow.

How much for your kit to Oregon City, OR (97045)?
Also, do you have any photos of the underside showing the completed install? I'm installing an oversize fuel tank and want to be sure all works and how the receiver is welded in..?
Also, any photos of your side protection? I can see it is there from the rear shot..?

Thanks,
LCDiesel60

Thanks Fourrunner--got it. Will look for the rest of the rest of the information when you get it posted.

Crawled under the rig to do more planning..found a few more things to fix..buying a used rig and 'going through it' to make it dependable and last does come with some extra work sometimes...wish I had more time and $$.

I'm not sure if the HJ60's have the same rear frame box as an FJ62 but what I did was just welded the receiver tube to a piece of scrap 1/4" steel and drilled holes through that to match existing holes in my rear crossmember, then used 4 1/4's Grade 8 bolts to bolt to the cross member.

Got my bumper kit and it looks fantastic. The laser cutting is amazing, it will be a dream to weld up.

The brackets are awesome too.

Mark was great to deal with, I had to cancel on him a few times due to the boss (wife) wanting other things to take priority and through that, Mark put up with my repeated emails asking silly questions.

I will be posting a full build thread once I get started.

The laser cut parts look so much better than plasma cut parts. Both were accurate, but the finish of the laser cut parts looks awesome.

Thanks for the compliments. Looking forward to the build thread. Keep us updated.

FYI, one kit available and ready to ship.

Ok, Started the kit on Friday and wanted to point some differences out between the 60 and 62.

On the 62 frame, the crossmember that attaches at the rear overlaps the frame and forces you to either cut it off use spacers, I elected to tack weld washers together to use as spacers on the bottom.

I also fabbed up some thin spacers on the side due to obvious variances between frames (we are dealing with custom parts here).

If you are a good welder and I consider myself good (not a pro by any means but they are strong and not ugly) then the hardest part of this build will be (on a 62 atleast) lining up the bolt holes. Once you get them drilled out (I used my press) then the assembly really flies.

I am building my own hitch system and I actually prefer this because It allows me to design my own system. On my 62, the heaviest item it will ever tow will be my Yakima bike rack.

I am going to start a new thread as soon as I get around to uploading my photos.

Overall, I am super happy with the setup. It is important to understand that this is my fifth custom built bumper and I have bent cages, done spring overs etc. I understand that when a custom item is going to be built on a 20 plus year old vehicle, adjustments will be necessary.

Yeah he had to handle a few of my scrub questions about it too..:p

Check out my pics (in the link of my signature) and you'll see how I adjusted for the extra x-member and how I integrated a hitch into it.
