Curious, before I try to reinvent the wheel, if anyone has done anything to add some assist (spring or piston) to the rear hatch and/or tailgate on a 45LV.

- To keep the top up I need to twist both side's knobs... it would be nice if it stayed up without that need.
- I'm tall and (with the current flat/non lift) the top doesn't go up high enough for me.
- The lower gate drops like a ton of bricks - did it have a spring assist like the 60 does?

The stock set up does work fine. I am 6'4'' and never have an issue with the rear hatch and hitting my head.. Sure the tailgate is alittle hefty but not to the point it needs assist. These things are what give old trucks there character.

Bumping this up again, 2 years later, in the hopes someone might have tackled this matter.
I DO understand that this is not a deal-beraker either way but my quest is to make improvements here and there that will contribute to a more pleasant experience overall.

Well I do have to admit that the build plan has a 2UZ on it...

@JackA you are not being helpful... :frown:

Nice, thanks.
