FJ45, whats this worth?

Keep us posted. would love to know how this turns out.

Granted I'm new to the cruiser scene but I'd offer $1500 for the heck of it and gladly pay $2000 if he turns it down. Other than years of dirt and grime that thing looks good from what you've shown us. If the motor ran when it was parked, with a little work it should run today.

Good luck. I wouldn't pass that up.

The plow is not really a good sign - tough on drivetrains. But, you would do okay at $1500 - $2000.

well your not going to run into many of them! make a deal on it! i would love to see the restore process on this truck-

I have two '45 wagons in the graveyard. A third I may buy as a flower planter. I have an FJ45 longbed in the graveyard. I traded this FJ45 shorty away yesterday. I would give him maybe $1000 for that if the floor is solid.

It is cool... but if you ever want it to be more than a cool old hulk... you are gonna spend a lot of money and time on it.

If you want an FJ45 wagon, they can be found. For a LOT less that that absurd price.

This 1962 '45 left yesterday along with a 1962 '40 to be used for parts and a '76 2F . I took a rusty $2500 4runner in trade.

Are you serious....love the '61 and '62 models :frown:

Hmmm. . .indeed the snowplow is cause for some concern. The body looks good, but you'll definitely want to be looking for signs of salt rot.

I appreciate everyone's thoughts on the issue. I am waiting to hear back from the owner and take it from there. I believe the registration back fee's will be through the roof. The 45 has not had current tags in a long time.

I won't comment on value, but it's an interesting old truck. If you look at the windscreen, and side mouldings particularly around the rear section, you can see a bit of "iron pig" DNA.

Good luck with it however it works out for you.

I have heard nothing back from the owner so far. I will keep everyone posted if I make an offer or better yet a purchase is made.

hey guys, don't mean to threadjack or anything but is there a section for hj47s here? I'm also looking for ballpark figures now that I'm in the market for one. Thanks so much, sorry if I posted in the wrong section or something.

Is that the fan shroud leaning against the DS door? IMHO, w/o knowing if it runs or any large issues with it are I wouldn't consider 5K at all. Even 2K is a little steep but thats just me. See if you can meet in person and check the rig out yourself, raise the hood etc etc. It's definitely been there a while, I bought a 71 FJ40 that the tires were damned near dry rotted off of it and covered in chicken sh!t, drug it up on my trailer and towed it home. changed fluids and threw a battery in it and she fired right up. All for 500 bux.

FWIW, I bought my '64FJ45 a little more than 10 years ago in similar non-running, hadn't been started in 23 years etc. $700 w/o title (I had to do the legwork to get another title, not expensive just bothersome).

It's been about $5k getting it back to running in a condition that the wife will ride with me on occasion. And I did all the work myself including the paint. That was easily 5 years of rebuild too.

Damn - I'd love to have that beauty! He may just be testing you at $5k. Offer him $1500 and see what happens.

Man if I only knew :bang:, I have a non rusted 150K original miles clean 4runner I would have traded you for that... have any more?

The markets have changed some thats for sure. The seller would have easily gotten that about 5-8 years ago. At the end of day, it's only worth what you are willing to pay for it. If everything is there and solid I would talk the seller down. Hunting down hard to find parts, time for reworking rust and getting it road worthy will easily pay for itself in the long run that of course you really wanted it. The seller could easily get 2 grand for it if they parted it out or ebayed it. This one seems to be solid from the pics but you need more info on the condition of the body, frame etc before talking about buying it. About the only thing I don't like in the pic is the plow which could lead to other issues. Offer the seller 2 grand and see what happens.
