There was a change 9/72 when the hole for a radio was added. The rod that controlled vent changed as well as attachment point on the vent itself. Rod moved towards the center of the dash. 9/72+ rod was only used for a year in the US and not easy to locate. Also 9/73 heater changed and with that change the vent was welded closed on models with a factory heater. Few years later the cowl vent was gone on models with a factory heater. Since a heater was standard on all FJ40s in the US since the mid 1960s. This wouldn't be from a 74 if from a US model. When the vent in the windshield went away during 1965 is when the vent in the cowl started. Not sure if the early vent up to 9/67 when the 68 model were exactly the same as the 9/67-9/72.
