Really cheap and available are are great! :-)

If you do get the 75 series FF rear axle, would you measure the WMS to WMS, the width of the housing it's self and post them in the
Actual measured WMS to WMS measurements thread?

What year and country of origin too please?

Yeah, I will try to do that--I read somewhere though that the 40/55/7x use the same axle shafts in the FF rear ends, so maybe they are all the same? It looks like I might just possibly be able to get both the front and rear axles out of a 75 that we are parting out, along with (hopefully) the power steering and the brake master cylinder--if I can get all of this, it will really speed up the completion of my FJ45 project.

The parts 75 is another "general export" truck like my 45. Not certain on the year, but most likely late 1990's, maybe as late as 2000. I know that the general consensus is that 75 production ended in 1997, but new ones (6 lug wheels and leaf springs all around) were still being sold here well into the 2000's.

IIRC, The coil sprung front ends and wide 5 lug wheels didn't start showing up here until maybe 2004, 2005. I remember when the goofy 5 lug wheels first started showing up, and being disappointed that they had changed, and it couldn't have been before 2004 at the earliest.

Good info.

FYI another 40 series exception in the canadian market was the FJ45. It had the larger spindles/hubs/bearings in the late 70s with the bigger drum brakes at all 4 corners.

My '79 is Non-USA, made in Japan but sold here in Ecuador. As I had installed all new brake components on my '70 I was switching as much stuff over to the '79 as I could. Once I took the right front wheel and drum off I noticed the difference. I had cut a stick to measure the I.D. of the drum and it was way sloppy. Then I noticed the wheel cylinders, brake lines are different, the shoes are wider. I can only "assume" that by not switching to the discs for this market Toyota opted for the front drum brakes used on a 45.

I have a 1985 FJ70 with drum brakes, and the 75-90 long spindle. I am looking at the JT Outfitters disk brake conversion, and need to confirm two things.

Is the spindle bolt pattern the same from old short spindle Land Cruisers, to the long 1975-90 spindles?

More importantly, with the longer spindles and larger / longer hubs on my 85 with drum brakes, does this change the mounting point of the wheel?? It looks to me like the neck of the hub is just longer, and the mounting point for the wheel "could" be the same... If it is in fact wider, as stated earlier in this thread, that would make the caliper mounting bracket in the JT Outfitters disk brake conversion kit not compatible...
