fj40 4 wheel low problem??????

Looking at buying a 1976 FJ40, owner states that 2wd and 4wd high work fine, but he can't get it into 4wd low. Any thoughts on what the problem might be.

Heard that sometimes there is a linkage problem, but can't find information

Any thoughts?

Mine was the linkage take a look and see - post some pictures and see if we can help

mines hard to get in and out of 4 low. i just rock it back and forth and it usually pops out.

Could be the carpet isn't as wide as the whole and thats binding it up. Lift up the carpet and see if that helps. When I did some work and put the carpet back, I had a similar problem.
