It was waste and Ohno hated it. They continue to sell in markets that are in no hurry to move on to a new model. Ohno was pushing for a more lean manufacturing production system throughout toyota's manufacturing. He was annoyed by waste... he categorizes seven types... the waste of overproduction which was the worst (too many frames... ect... ) and inventory waste to name a few that would apply here. So either build it and ship it or send it in CKD. Either way made the stock go away. Ohno wanted just-in-time manufacturing and was constantly tweaking the process to achieve it.

I think this title is good. Many months ago I saw a FJ25 on Facebook for sale in Peru. It has been advertised here on mud too, some of you know. I decided to contact the seller.
(Very) long story short: two weeks ago the FJ25 arrived. Rare early example it is. Some rust but not rotten. Lots of original parts still present. Unfortunately the compete interior is missing, including the gas tank and filler.
But the good thing is it has the correct:
- Wheels (4 of them)
- Engine...
