has anyone figured out a paper filter substitute for them? the later model fj40 are a touch too tall to fit in

So I think the filter on the right is a Napa or SOR air filter. It's a little tall and doesn't fit perfect.
The one on the left I don't know where I got it but it fits, from what I can tell it's a Fram CA376, I ordered a new one to see if it fits as well. Ill let you know what happens.

it was bizarre to see the oem filter ends were some sort of cardboard on the 25 filter.

Specs show the ca376 will be way too tall. Here are the measurements off fhe stock air filter
In Australia I use Wesfil WA 1058. with A bit of rubber packing to increase height. Cheers

Yes, it's the CA376.
So silver wire mesh filter is SOR or Napa FJ40 filter, too tall. Orange Fram CA376 is just a tiny bit shorter, but doesn't fit very well. Black filter is a aftermarket version of the Fram CA376 and has the CA376 stamped on it, not sure where I got it or who makes it, its shorter than the other two and just fits, could be shorter for prefect fit.
